Merlin has made an immediate impact on the game, joining established archetypes and helping underused cards regain some momentum. So far, Merlin is everything you could want in a Season Pass card: a solid choice in both competitive archetypes and in more exotic synergies.
Morgan le Fay is flying under the radar at the moment, which is often the case for cards that release during the first week of the season. In addition to Merlin, four cards in Series 4 released this week, so Morgan le Fay might not have been a priority for many. Still, the card might have earned that right if you look at its early results. Indeed, the new 4-Cost has joined the likes of Bullseye, Mill, and a hybrid Bounce/Destroy deck, and the results look very convincing so far.
Two great releases overall to kick off the Masters of the Arcane season!
| Mission | # | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| Destroy Cards | 15 | 150 Credits |
| Win with Morgan le Fay starting in your Deck | 4 | 200 Collector’s Tokens |
| Win with Merlin starting in your Deck | 8 | 150 Gold |
Morgan le Fay Performance

Morgan le Fay is barely seeing play at the moment, likely due to its very niche ability while Merlin is the talk of town. It is difficult to properly assess the card’s value at the moment, although the numbers do look quite good based on the limited sample we have to look at.
It is the first week of the season and bots might be helping a bit (especially for the Destroy and Discard strategies because they tend to keep their points in hand for a while). Still, the card is posting good enough numbers for those who were hesitant to get it to take another look at Morgan le Fay.

Merlin Performance

Merlin has been a superstar so far, so much so that Gorgon has picked up a lot of momentum as a disruptive counter. Its popularity might not be off the charts, but the card is a part of a lot of top performing decks in the higher ranks. Small Good Cards, Good Cards, Clog, and Bounce are among the top archetypes using the new 2-Cost.
Plus—and this is the true sign of a great card in my opinion—Merlin has reinvigorated the Clog trio of The Hood, Sentry, and Annihilus, which are being seen in multiple decks at the moment. While The Hood never left, the other two had not been part of the competitive meta for quite some time, which is a true testament to Merlin‘s strength as a card.

Bonus Challenge Decks
Merlin and Morgan le Fay don’t merge very well, as they both require space in your hand to function and don’t share any synergies. However, if you want to knock out the missions of both cards at the same time, I’m sure Merlin can probably join a Morgan le Fay deck without hurting it too much.
Otherwise, both cards are featured in plenty of decks, so this week’s missions should not be too challenging to complete.
Merlin does its best work in low cost, highly flexible archetypes that can easily spare an energy to use the incantations. That can range from already existing archetypes like Small Good Cards to more Merlin-focused ones like Good Cards Clog.
Morgan le Fay might not be very popular, but she still appeared in plenty of different archetypes. In Bullseye, she synergizes with Swarm to create high power patterns in the later turns. If you discarded the card with Blade or Colleen Wing, you can then discard it with Bullseye and get it back with Morgan le Fay before discarding Swarm again with M.O.D.O.K. the following turn.
It’s not the easiest thing to pull off, but it is a nice new play pattern for an otherwise inflexible Bullseye deck.
As for Mill and Bounce, the 4-Cost serves the same purpose in both: to recuperate your destroyed 1-Costs for late game shenanigans.
