Elixir has failed even harder than I expected; the card didn’t even end up as a good addition in Destroy decks. At the moment, there is really nothing to back the card up other than the hope of a future nerf.
Esme Cuckoo continues to be a “lower ranks” type of card where the high rolls she pulls aren’t immediately met with a Retreat or limited by Mobius M. Mobius and other disruptive cards.
Overall, neither card had much of an impact on the meta this week, although Esme Cuckoo at least saw play in some top tier contenders.

Elixir Performance

Elixir has been, as advertised, a non-factor in Marvel Snap. Regardless of the metric you look at, they all point in the same direction: Elixir does not impact any aspect of the meta at the moment.
There is a chance that even Destroy Enjoyers have stopped playing it since it looks like the card hasn’t made the cut as a top 12 card in that synergy.

Esme Cuckoo Performance

Esme Cuckoo is still a solid card outside the Infinite Rank, but it’s just too much of a gimmick in the higher spheres. In this meta that is filled with strong decks that all run various counter cards, Esme Cuckoo mostly shines when two conditions are met:
- Mobius M. Mobius isn’t around. Preferably, you also want to dodge Cosmo and Esme Cuckoo with the Ongoing synergy.
- You either Snap before playing Esme Cuckoo or the opponent decides to play with fire and stay after your late Snap.
Once you face an experienced player looking to climb the Ladder, though, it is almost impossible for these two factors to exist (and they should become even more rare as time passes). If the OTA on May 29th is able to shake the meta, Esme Cuckoo could probably benefit from a few days of chaos to bolster her performance.

Bonus Challenge Decks
Looking at the global stats for Elixir, there are barely any decks I would recommend to complete the missions this week. Really, the ideal strategy to knock out the challenges associated with the card appears to be playing 11 strong cards and hoping Elixir stays at the bottom of your deck.
In that case, I will share a few decks that some trustworthy players told me they had good results with. These are not backed by anything other than personal experience, so I cannot vouch for their future performance.
Esme Cuckoo might have failed to be a great card on her own, but she can still rely on the many strong archetypes she has managed to sneak her way into. Here are the three top performers for the week.
As one might notice, the Ongoing synergy is starting to lose a bit of momentum—even with the radiance of an Esme Cuckoo that is designed to make the likes of Iron Man and Gorr shine. This week, her best performing deck was either Toxic or Silver Surfer. Neither of these two archetypes really need her, but they can appreciate her services when she allows you to play Sera on Turn 4 or get a second copy of Ajax.
