Welcome to another edition of Off-Meta Decks! Last week we had a special event where we challenged readers to make an off-meta deck featuring 6 underutilized cards. The winner receives a Season Pass, and we have a special judge to determine our winner, OrdinaryHarry!
If you aren’t familiar with the series, we define off-meta decks by these criteria:
- Decks can’t be used in the current meta (see our current meta rankings)
- This includes decks that only have 1 or 2 cards different from a meta list
- Decks that offer unique twists on an existing archetype
- Well known decks that fly under the radar or classic lists (like Cerebro)
- Completely fresh ideas
For this competition, we added a few additional rules:
- Deck must include at least two of the following cards: Yellowjacket, Zero, M'Baku, Quake, Namor, Lockjaw, Red Skull, or Kang
- Arishem and Loki are the only banned cards
Who Is OrdinaryHarry?
Our special judge is the popular Off-Meta streamer OrdinaryHarry! He is veteran Marvel Snap player who has streamed since the closed beta. He made his mark at the first Creator’s Clash, where he won 1st place with Thanos and showed the world how to properly Snap the Mind Stone. Harry’s streams often showcase fun cooks or twists on popular decks, making him the perfect judge for this competition.

Competition Runner-Ups
While these decks didn’t quite make the top spot, OrdinaryHarry held them in very high regard! To give these decks their due respect, they will be featured below. Furthermore, these runner-ups also are winning a free Mystery Variant!
Congratulations to our 2 Runner-Ups! I will connect with you both to award your prize!
Tray69’s Ultimate Kang Deck
This classic-style Galactus list puts a creative usage on two very under used cards. The classic Galactus lists are often abandoned due to their predictability, but these additions gave the deck a fun change up to the playstyle. OrdinaryHarry said this innovative deck was a very close second place. Below are Tray69’s deck and write-up on how to use it:
The main idea is simple, Selene and goblins with Galactus turn 6 is one win con, alternatively Namor in Hobgoblin‘s lane brings a lot of Power with Alioth the close the game. Kang is included to help make everything more safe. On turn 6 you can see if Galactus would win, or if Alioth would hit and on turn 5 he can help ensure a safe Hobgoblin (also if you suspect Shang-Chi on Namor you can play HG on Namor, his Power goes down and Shang-Chi misses, then he goes over and Namor regains Power). Lastly Kang also helps take Selene‘s debuff if you hadn’t drawn any goblins.
Vehement’s Scarlet Skaar
This deck utilizes the reworked Zabu alongside Scarlet Spider, Skaar, and Namora for added value. Namor fits well as a target for Namora, and Quake can be a surprise tech card to support your solo target. Below is Vehement’s deck and write-up:
It’s a Namora deck. Forge and Gwenpool turn a lot of our 3 Power cards into 5 Power cards that when buffed by Namora turn them into 10 Power cards. Valentina is a surprise card that gives us an extra “4 cost” card that can be a Namora target or turn 6 companion to a discounted Skaar.
Competition Winner
After playing through your decks, OrdinaryHarry has determined a winner for this challenge! This player has won a Season Pass for either this season or next (their choice). Without further ado, here is our winner:
Simoun51202’s Agent Cerebro 4
While Cerebro isn’t a brand new idea, this list is very well designed and offers multiple play lines. In OrdinaryHarry’s own words, “I’m not a big fan of Cerebro decks, but this one is a ton of fun and is very well put together.” If you have not only gotten a Cerebro hater to enjoy your deck, but also rank it higher than other submissions, you have a good deck on your hands.
This deck utilizes three of the challenge cards: M'Baku, Yellowjacket, and Lockjaw. These three cards are a huge reason this deck stands out from other Agent Venom Cerebro decks. You get the ability to search for Cerebro using Lockjaw, as well as get value back when M'Baku leaps from your deck for surprise points. Yellowjacket‘s ability is easily negated by either playing him first, or playing out your Luke Cage (who is already required for a good Cerebro deck).
Agent Venom helps push Cerebro to a near-competitive level. You have the meta-frequent Iron Man, Mystique, and Klaw for high Power without going over 4. Mysterio gives you three cheap cards for Cerebro to target, or 1 hidden target if Agent Venom couldn’t buff him. Ms. Marvel helps give that additional boost in Power while keeping that 4 Power max. All of these supporting cards give you strong play lines for matches where Cerebro refuses to appear.
Future Challenges?
Congratulations to our winners! And thank you to all of you who entered! If you enjoyed this deck building challenge, let me know in the comments. Also leave any suggestions you would have for future challenges. If many if you enjoy this, we may host another challenge in the future with new cards!
A HUGE thank you to our judge OrdinaryHarry! A lot of time was spent playing your decks, so be sure to share some love by visiting his channels.
We will be back soon with another classic off-meta edition! If you have a deck you want featured in the next edition, leave it in the comments with a deck code and description on how to play it!
