Good morning all! I’m back at Marvel Snap Zone with a deck of the day: a top deck for you to try out! My aim for this article is to get you in and out quickly and give you something new to play every day along with the tools to do well with it. Check out the video for a verbal explanation of this and three other new decks.
When I say bounce you probably think of Beast and Hit-Monkey. Perhaps you also think of Werewolf by Night… but there are four other cards, all severely underrated in bounce that allowed our friend Doc Guapo to fly up to rank 3 with the list.
Sasquatch has been in and out of bounce lists since his inception. He’s obviously very powerful, but he can be hard to use with Hit-Monkey, and since Monkey is usually more than 10 power, and since Beast costs 3, usually meaning that you can only get Sasquatch down to 3-Cost ot end the game… Monkey makes it and Sasquatch doesn’t. This deck, however, can get Sasquatch to 1 or 2 cost, which changes everything, making him a power card.
The most important card in cheapening Sasquatch is also the biggest card in the list, Beta Ray Bill. Bill’s hammer is an extra card that you can play for cheap on turn 5 (after a Beta Ray Bill and King Eitri trigger). That’s obviously powerful – that’s a 15 power play that gives you -1 cost on Sasquatch, but the real trick here is to bounce the Hammer, meaning Bill is up to a 27 power play, with another 2 power on Hit-Monkey to go with making Sasquatch cheaper.
Since the hammer is free, it’s also great for moving the Werewolf by Night where you want it to end up. Werewolf is incredibly strong here thanks to Merlin, who moves the Werewolf without taking up space. Merlin can further help by getting rid of the Hood, or, especially useful, using Once and Future to give you two extra energy going into the pivotal final turns.
Finally, we have a card that was terrible upon release – Grandmaster. Grandmaster’s best use here is to get an extra Beast trigger for one cheaper on turn 5, but it can also hit Bill’s hammer to make him huge, or allow you to play and then buff Hit-Monkey between turn 6 and 7. Without Cosmo around, Grandmaster is now just disgustingly strong and slept on.
Card Replacements
Turn by Turn
- Turn 1: Eitri > Hood – You can Snap on 1 w/ Merlin/Wolf
- Turn 2: Merlin > 1 or just pass
- Turn 3: Werewolf by Night… set up a Beast so you can Grandmaster it for T5. Toxin Hood if Beast in hand.
- Turn 4: Bill >manage handspace
- Turn 5: Beast and 1s. Toxin is good for bounce if Hammer. Use once and Future. Polymorph is for Beast on 6. Late Bill is fine if Eitri… G-M can still make a 24-Power Bill. If no bouncers, get out Monkey and hold G-M to use it on him on 6.
- Turn 6: Dump hand, Monkey, Sasquatch.
