New week, new bundle!
You’ve probably already noticed the value of bundles has started dropping again. But this bundle is on a whole different level. We haven’t seen such bad deals for a wide range of players in a long time.
As we can see, this bundle can hardly offer more value than usual.
104% Progress Value and 0.8 Tokens per Gold – those are the numbers you’d expect from the regular Token Tuesdays at 1,500 Gold. But the price here is completely different – 5,000 Gold, for which you’d clearly expect something better than a regular bundle.
Comparison With Other Bundles
By Progress Value, Army of One is one of the worst bundles in the past year – in this metric it’s beaten only by The Eldritch Swordsman and I Am Iron Groot bundles. Over the past 6 months it’s competing for last place with Bio-Weaponized and Femme Fatale, which, thanks to Credits, give more Tokens per Gold than Army of One. So this bundle can safely be called the worst in the past 6 months.
If you evaluate the bundle by Progress Value and compare it to similar bundles in the same price tier, it turns out it’s still among the worst. Since Spotlight Caches arrived in the game it’s only been beaten for the title of worst bundle of all time by a couple of other, truly awful deals.
And if you judge bundles over the past 6 months – yes, it’s still the worst. Moving on.
By the most important metric, Total Tokens per Gold, the bundle also looks very bad. Over the past year only three bundles were worse, and among bundles from the last 6 months Army of One sits at a bottom no other bundle even comes close to.
Thus, compared with previously released bundles, we judge Army of One not against the average like we usually do, but against the very bottom of bundles – a place where no light reaches. And that’s, of course, a very bad metric. But the bundle also includes a variant for Scorn, so let’s talk about that next.
What if you don’t have Scorn?
Yes – if you don’t have Scorn in your collection, the bundle’s value goes up. Yes – if you want to use her in your decks, the bundle is worth it. But if you’re missing a lot of other Series 5 cards, I’d recommend waiting for a bundle with a better base value, where the bonus will be a Series 5 card, instead of buying a bad bundle just for a Series 5 card.
Of course, if you specifically need Scorn and no other card – take it, she’ll complement discard decks nicely, which we’ll talk about later. But if you can spend Gold on another Series 5 card in a future bundle – I’d go with that option.
Use cases for the Scorn variant
When talking about possible ways to use Scorn, it’s worth starting by mentioning the Golden Gauntlet World Championship Qualifier 2, which was won by theelectricflame playing a Discard Dracula deck that used Scorn.
It’s a pretty old, classic discard deck, upgraded with strong, relatively recently released cards like Khonshu, Corvus Glaive, Scorn, and so on. I don’t doubt this deck will still be solid in almost any meta, so if you like the archetype and playstyle, that’s a good reason to buy the bundle for Scorn if you don’t have her.
Another just-as-strong deck with Scorn is of course Bullseye Discard. It combines effective discard synergy, The Collector’s ability and a powerful finish with Bullseye. So if you’re after a more aggressive playstyle – this deck might suit you a bit better than the Dracula Discard.
Conclusion
Thus, the conclusion about the Army of One bundle is simple – buy it only if you specifically need Scorn to fill out your collection with this strong discard card.
If you’re just eyeing the bundle for any high-series card, or especially if you already have Scorn – I strongly recommend skipping it, since depending on the metric it’s either one of the worst or the worst among the bundles.
So for the broader player base the Army of One bundle deserves only 0.5 stars. For those who need Scorn and nothing else – it’s a 5 stars, but compared to similar deals with Series 5 cards it’s still pretty bad.
Also, don’t forget that you can evaluate this bundle in comparison to others using a variety of different criteria, utilizing the special chart on the dedicated Army of One bundle page! Below is an updated guide on how to use our tools to evaluate bundles on your own.
