Mister Fantastic First Steps and H.E.R.B.I.E. are both off to fantastic starts, but for different reasons.
The new Season Pass card has instantly become the most popular card in the game, even breaking the 50% popularity threshold in the higher ranks. As expected, Mister Fantastic First Steps is just another Surge, and the two cards are currently at the helm of most of the best performing decks.
H.E.R.B.I.E. is far from that popularity, but the new card posted great numbers nonetheless. To be fair, it’s mostly part of some of these Surge + Mister Fantastic First Steps decks, which, of course, helps. Still, even if one card isn’t the reason a deck dominant, making it into the starting 12 is a feat on its own.

H.E.R.B.I.E. Performance

H.E.R.B.I.E. is off to a solid start in terms of numbers, and the early results say it’s a strong card. I won’t go against this great showing, but I need to tone it down a little.
First, it is always difficult to properly assess the power of the first card of the season because it is played in the bot-filled Infinite Climb. It is important to understand that the 0.58 Cube Average and 56.7% Win Rate are, in a sense, made-up numbers. Indeed, no card in the game had those numbers last season—except during the first week of the season. The numbers across all ranks also feel weird. Why would H.E.R.B.I.E. have insane numbers and still be ranked #129 overall?
That second limitation is easier to forget about, as the new Season Pass card, Mister Fantastic First Steps, posted similar numbers while ranked #43. However, this brings me to my last point: H.E.R.B.I.E. is mostly played in only two archetypes at the moment, Good Cards Buff and Surfer. It’s really only played alongside the likes of Surge, Mister Fantastic First Steps, and other meta juggernauts. No offense, but most cards that are able to synergize with those decks should post great numbers.
H.E.R.B.I.E. is good enough to earn a spot in some of the historically best archetypes in Marvel Snap, and that alone tells me it is a worthy card. However, the need to run it over another option isn’t fully established yet in my opinion.

Mister Fantastic First Steps Performance

A 51.9% popularity in the higher ranks is downright crazy, and it kind of makes all the other numbers about the card irrelevant. Indeed, the new Season Pass card immediately became the most popular card in the card, beating Surge by a hair (48.5%) yet already creating a significant gap with Shang-Chi (36%).
In that context, putting up any type of notable performance is incredible, as the meta will inevitably revolve around it. The thing is, there aren’t many counters to the card except for Red Guardian (or just not drawing Mister Fantastic First Steps).
There’s no need for a long analysis here; the card is already on its way to replicate what Surge has been doing the last couple season. It’s dominating the early turns in most decks and enabling play patterns and power spikes that would otherwise be impossible to accomplish.

Bonus Challenge Decks
To be fair, Mister Fantastic First Steps can be played in any deck you like, so I will just list the best performers here. H.E.R.B.I.E. is not as flexible, but it does join in on the fun in enough decks for you to complete its missions easily.
