The Sir Hydration Robert bundle just ended, and Second Dinner is releasing another similar bundle at the same price – apparently for those who didn’t manage to grab the last one. Let’s find out how good it is.
At a hefty price of 5,000 Gold, the bundle shows solid numbers: 126% Progress Value and 1.0 Total Tokens per Gold already make it look like a good deal at first glance.
And while these are really good values, I urge you not to forget about Booster Packs, which have a huge advantage over all other bundles, offering 1.1 Total Tokens per Gold and 133% Progress Value. They’re available every Saturday, cost very little Gold, and I recommend them to every player.
So even though this bundle has decent stats, it already faces competition from Booster Packs, and not just one – after all, for the same 5,000 Gold you could potentially pick up another bundle with a missing Series 4 or 5 card, and those ones show up on average every 2–3 weeks.
Comparison With Other Bundles
In terms of Progress Value, the Cold Embrace bundle ranks among the top bundles both among all bundles for Gold released in the past 6 and 12 months, and among bundles in the same price category (around 5,000 Gold).
Traditionally for bundles of this type, the Credits-to-Gold ratio is very low – 0.6. So if your goal is new splits, this bundle isn’t for you. You’d be better off buying the Booster Packs while you wait for a better bundle with Credits.
As for Total Tokens per Gold (including Tokens you get after spending Credits), everything’s great – a value of 1.0 lets the bundle rank among the top bundles, trailing only a couple of past offers. So if your goal is maximizing value per Gold and you don’t want to wait for a bundle with a Series 4 or Series 5 card you don’t have, you can confidently grab this bundle, especially if you already have enough Gold to buy Booster Packs every Saturday.
Thus, based on the numbers, the bundle’s quite good. Its downside, of course, is the absence of a Series 4 or Series 5 card – one some players could’ve gotten for free if they didn’t have it in their collection. But since those cases aren’t that common, it traditionally isn’t factored into the bundle’s overall evaluation.
Use cases for the Death variant
Since Death is a Series 3 card, its extra value really only shows up for new players still building their collections. For both them and veterans, the main use-case for Death in decks is the destroy deck archetype. Below are two examples of such decks – the primary meta version and a budget variant.
An alternative use-case for Death is in a mill deck, which, while taking one of the lower spots in the meta, still has its place. Below is an example of such a deck:
Conclusion
Thus, we have a representative of good bundles, with high Progress Value and Total Tokens per Gold. If your goal is to maximize resources for Gold, this is an excellent candidate to buy – right after similar bundles that include a Series 4 or Series 5 card you’re missing, and after Booster Packs, of course. Precisely because of those caveats, the bundle gets a 4.5-star rating from me instead of the maximum.
And as always – I recommend buying Booster Packs every Saturday. They’re especially worth paying attention to if you don’t have much Gold and saving up for something better seems like an impossible and overly time-consuming task. These bundles will cost about 1,800 Gold per month in exchange for better value immediately after bundles with high-series cards. These bundles will cost about 1,800 Gold per month for the best value among bundles, right after bundles with high-series cards.
Also, don’t forget that you can evaluate this bundle in comparison to others using a variety of different criteria, utilizing the special chart on the dedicated Cold Embrace bundle page! Below is an updated guide on how to use our tools to evaluate bundles on your own.
