Washington D.C. Hot Location Guide: Strategy, Best Cards and Decks

This week's Marvel Snap Hot Location is Washington D.C.: Cards here with no abilities have +3 Power. This location will show up 60% more frequently in games for the next 24 hours. Here are some decks to get you started for all players!

The Hot Location for the next 24 hours is Washington D.C.: Cards here with no abilities have +3 Power. Hot Locations happen every week, starting Sunday at 3 AM GMT. The chosen location has a 60% increased chance of appearing during games. Players who strategically build around the location or counter the decks that do so can have an advantage over their opponents! So what do you play?

Strategy and General Tips

Time to dust off your Patriot and your No Ability cards as we travel to Washington D.C. today for the Hot Location. If you’re deep into Series 3, your most consistent bet is to play some kind of Patriot list, preferably with Cosmo to defend from counterplay.

Deeper into Series 3 and into Series 4 and 5, their could be room to experiment with On Reveal Mister Negative styles more today as the tokens generated will also get the buffs from Washington D.C. Sauron and Zero also could have extra viability during the location as the impacted cards no longer have abilities they also get the buff from the location.

Last note: Bucky Barnes has no ability, so if you were worried about Destroy having no viability, fret not. Tech in Enchantress into DeathWave and you should also still be able to find consistent success with this location.

If you’re instead looking to counter the strategies below, as mentioned before Enchantress is your best friend. Place her into your deck and you should find plenty of targets this weekend. As for cards not to play, putting Rocks into your opponent deck can be a liability potentially.

Building in the more limited pools will be more difficult but there are some key cards you can look towards to help improve your win rate, such as White Tiger. These cards add tokens that have no abilities and are also buffed by the location. This leads to recommending On-Reveal decks for Series 1, 2 and early Series 3 players if your missing the key build arounds.

If you’re not confident with these styles, you can also use Storm or Scarlet Witch on this location to remove the benefit for your opponent.

Kicking things off this week we keep the Series 1 On Reveal package and sprinkle in some of the low energy no ability cards. Misty Knight, Shocker, Squirrel Girl and Mister Sinister will all be above rate cards on the location.

Backing these cards up with a strong On Reveal package allows you to be consistent with the usual strategy of retriggering these cards on turn 6, whilst getting a boost when Washington D.C. shows up.

In Series 2, we can get Storm. She can be used to both counter the location and set up for us to lock the location down and add to it later using White Tiger. This allows us to adjust the build slightly, adding in Iceman and Scorpion for early control and Lizard.

One edge case use here with Lizard, we can turn its ability off using Enchantress on Washington D.C. if the opportunity arises also. However Enchantress is your flexible spot and is there in case you start running into the Ongoing powerhouses.

Even with nerfs occurring between the last two Hot Locations, we are featuring the same Patriot builds here for the third week in a row. We strongly recommend keeping Cosmo in as these sort of locations tend to bring out specific counterplays to decks like these two.

One note on Onslaught in these builds: Given the added buff on the location it may not be needed for this one, allowing you to have a more flexible curve.

Zabu and Mister Negative, the new hot pairing of Marvel Snap, may be even stronger with the Hot Location. By not running Arnim Zola we can lean more into cards such as White Tiger and Brood which are both good flipped and can win the Hot Location by themselves. If we start seeing everyone else playing Ongoing decks, consider swapping Brood for a tech card such as Rogue or Super-Skrull.

After Credits

As teased at the start, one deck that may not be immediately apparent as a powerhouse in the location is the Sauron Shuri build. This deck removes the abilities from the big cards it wants to with the game with anyway. If these land on Washington D.C. they get even larger. On top of this, this approach has the benefit of playing one of the best decks in the game if the location doesn’t show up.
