The Triskelion Hot Location Guide: Strategy, Best Cards and Decks

The best Marvel Snap decks and strategy guide for the Hot Location, The Triskelion: Fill each player’s hand with random cards.

The Hot Location for the next 24 hours is The Triskelion: Fill each player’s hand with random cards. This is a Hot Location for Marvel Snap’s September 2023 Season, Loki for All Time, that starts on selected Wednesdays and Sundays at 3 AM GMT. For 24 hours, it has a 50% chance of showing up in games.

Players who strategically build around the location or counter the decks that do so can have an advantage over their opponents! Let’s find out what the best strategies, cards, and decks are for the new meta!

Strategy and General Tips

The Triskelion is more polarizing than it seems for one specific reason – it always blocks a draw. What should be fun randomness, however, is often just frustrating as your hand filled with cards you don’t want and you miss draws on key cards. This frustration can be played around, though, and getting better at using these random cards to win games can lead to more big cube wins in the future. This location tests your mindset more than anything, and, if you’re willing to work with it, big gains can be had.

There are some very clear ways to play into the location’s effect using cards like Quinjet, The Collector, and Devil Dinosaur. These cards benefit from the extra cards in your hand as well as the cards that were generated, which also buffs The Collector and makes Quinjet stronger. This allows you to play even more of these cards, and it’s hard for your opponent to effectively play around them since your hand could be filled with anything.

Darkhawk benefits from the blocked draw, and it can have cross synergy with Devil Dinosaur if you combine the decks using Mystique. It may only account for an extra two power on Darkhawk, but that can be the difference between winning and losing. You’re also benefiting from the location while playing good cards.

Ronan the Accuser can also be huge as the opponent’s hand will often be very full. If we can combine this with Wave, we can stop a lot of these cards from being played on the final turn.

Additionally, these builds can be made with several one drop cards, which is very important for this location.

One drop cards are important because they allow you to clear your hand for a draw as quickly as possible. Missing two draws due to the location and having an unplayable hand is worse than one draw. Playing two to three 1-Cost cards is advisable so you can clear your hand and keep the draws coming. This allows you access to the cards you actually put in your deck.

The last synergy to discuss (which may not be as obvious) is MODOK and Morbius! We can discard the extra cards for a massive Morbius. This can be combined with cards like The Collector to have a deck which benefits from the filling of the hand and throwing the cards away.

Loki likes having lots of cards in hand so he can swap them with the better cards your opponent choose to put in the deck. The Triskelion is a playground for Loki and if you own the card you have to be playing Loki during the location. Extra cards which could buff your cards and then be converted later. The supporting package for Loki is often cards which are great targets for Shadow King so potentially the way too

The number 1 recommendation today has to be play Loki. This one card will turn the cards from the location that don’t work for your into cards which are playable and they will cost less. Alongside synergies with both The Collector and Devil Dinosaur it is very hard to go past this strategy for the location (although we will try).

On top of working with the location, the deck already cheats significant energy and in games regardless of the location. Remember you want to Loki on turn 4 or 5 if you can and get as many of your scaling cards down prior as possible. Moon Girl before Loki to refill your hand and then go for it. Devil Dinosaur becomes a strong back up plan due to Triskelion as you have more cards in hand!

This deck includes Quinjet and Korg as your 1-drops. Armor can protect Quinjet and counter opposing Destroy strategies. There are lots of ways to reduce the cost of cards in your hand, and you don’t need to play cards like Mirage and Agent Coulson since you can rely on the location to fill your hand consistently.

This opens some room to play Mystique to copy your Ongoing of choice and also play Shang-Chi as a strong tech card. You can also drop Nick Fury for Enchantress (or another tech card like Cosmo), but this would limit the power of The Collector. Just spend your energy wisely and win.

Ongoing Sandman may not be what immediately comes to mind with the location, but, given we are about to get Spectrum variants handed out, it’s worth highlighting. This deck can usually play cards on curve, which keeps your hand from bricking for too long.

Then, you can play Electro into Sandman, Ronan the Accuser, and finally Orka or Spectrum. This should be a lot of power to beat with the limitation to one card a turn, and it will likely catch out a lot of players.

This has one aims to play Morbius early and throw discard cards down to buff it. Then it can win the other lane with Dracula. The location will usually block one draw, but this can help Lockjaw as you can pull impactful cards that are still in deck. Also, stray discard effects can miss your best cards due to the junked hand.

Carnage, Nova, and Agent 13 can be played earlier in the game to keep your hand going. Devil Dinosaur benefits from the location, and you play Shang-Chi to deal with the opposing (inevitable) Dino. Also, there was room to add Cosmo in place of White Queen from the Series 2 build thanks to the location.
