Welcome back to our new weekly series Cache-ing In! Each week, we break down what cards will be available in the new Spotlight Caches, as well as the Spotlight Variants! The goal is to help you determine if you should “Cache in” for the content, or hoard for a better week.
Spotlight Cache Week of September 3, 2024
This week, we get the newest Series 5 card Silver Sable! Joining him will be the return of Series 5 cards U.S. Agent and Mockingbird!
Silver Sable

Kicking off this brand new Spider-themed season is actually a non-spider character. I of course mean Silver Sable! She is a 1-Cost, 1-Power card with the ability “On Reveal: Steal 2 Power from the top card of your opponent’s deck.”
This card is a more usable version of Selene. She offers a premium stat line, with the possibility of being a 1/5 if your opponent plays their impacted card. The card has no real downsides, and can easily slot into a wide range of decks due to her Cost. Depending on the card she targets, -2 Power can be a severe hit to a large number of cards. She does have 2 common weaknesses though, Killmonger and Shadow King. Depending on the active meta state, this could impact her viability. To better understand her strength, let’s look at some decks she could work well in.
Possible Meta Deck
Silver Sable pairs perfectly with Cassandra Nova to severely impact the strength of your opponent’s cards. This list focuses on that synergy with Ajax and clog. With the help of Debrii, White Widow, and Viper, you can hinder your opponent’s options on the board. Spider-Ham let’s you cheaply interact with their hand. Hazmat helps to set up for Ajax or Annihilus. Red Guardian allows you to disable key cards and add some additional negative Power. Red Hulk is a good option since your opponent will be limited on play space.
There are several different versions of this deck that could work, like adding High Evolutionary and Abomination. Scorpion also works great as a substitution. No matter how you build the deck, this archetype is already gaining popularity before Silver Sable even releases. Adding her to the mix is an easy decision, and could really help elevate this deck style.
Low Collection Level Deck
This is a common deck style for new players. Dumping lots of 1-Cost cards, and buffing them with Ka-Zar, Blue Marvel, and Onslaught. Silver Sable fits very easily in this archetype. She doesn’t revolutionize the deck, but she provides a nice boost in reliable stats.
Fun Silver Sable Deck
Silver Sable is a great bounce tool since she can be picked up by Falcon and Beast easily. Her ability can trigger a 4 Power swing each time she is played, making her a good Power option and disruption option. This bounce package uses Angela, Bishop, Werewolf By Night, and
Silver Sable Prediction
Silver Sable simple looks like a great 1-Cost card. She has synergy potential, but also is strong enough to include in a wider range of decks. Her low Cost makes her easy to fit into a deck without worry. Of course not every deck wants to cut a card to add her in, but she is a great option to pick from.
In my opinion, this card looks like the next White Widow or Mockingbird. A strong, flexible card that has a higher than normal value with no real drawback. While she may not have a flashy “activate” button, her ability is definitely worth owning.
U.S. Agent

Joining Silver Sable‘s team is the return of U.S. Agent! During his initial release, he didn’t quite pack enough punch to be worth owning. Shortly after his release, he got a buff that made him a viable option! Specifically, he pairs well with Luke Cage and Goose. This limits where your opponent can play their big cards, making Agent more potent. You won’t deal with the drawbacks thanks to Luke Cage.
This deck uses those exact cards in a Spectrum Ongoing style deck. It leans heavily on Luke Cage to prevent negative Power from U.S. Agent, Man-Thing, and Lizard. The rest of your cards either are ongoing, or are used as bait to set up for your negative Power abilities. Nebula, for example, can draw out small cards to a central location to make Man-Thing more effective.
U.S. Agent isn’t the top card in the game by any means, but his buff did make him a valuable pickup. If many of you were like me and skipped out on his initial release, this week’s cache is a great time to pick him up!
Mockingbird

Rounding out this week’s team is the return of Mockingbird! This powerhouse card has been a top meta contender since her release. Even with her nerf to a 6-Cost, the extra Power has enabled her usage in even more decks! She sees play in archetypes like Zoo, Arishem, Thanos, and even fun brews with Skaar.
To feature Mockingbird this week, this is a popular Zoo list she works well in. With the help of Squirrel Girl, Shanna, and Kate Bishop, you have plenty of random 1-Cost cards to consistently reduce Mockingbird’s Power. Marvel Boy, Ka-Zar, and Blue Marvel can all buff these 1-Cost cards to flood your board with Power. Gilgamesh acts as a great finisher (often alongside Mockingbird) with so many cards getting extra Power.
Mockingbird is simply a good card. She is flexible in a number of different deck types, and she helps enable archetypes to have big Power swing options. She is absolutely worth owning, and this is a great time to save your Tokens!
Spotlight Variants
If you already own the cards the Spotlight Cache offers, one of these variants will take its place! If you own none of the cards, the variants will appear after you open all four caches. Spotlight variants are time exclusive to their release week, and will only be available after 1 full year of time has passed.
After the year, they will be available for purchase from the Daily Offer. They will cost 2,400 Gold per variant. So if any of these Spotlight variants feel like a must have for you, make sure to Cache In if you have enough caches saved to guarantee the pull.
InHyuk Lee is our featured artist for this season! This week, we get their variant for Silver Sable!
This variant is from the artist Skan, who creates many of Snap’s most popular variants!
This Mockingbird variant comes from the lesser-known Snap artist Jelena Djurdjevic! This makes the 2nd released variant by this artist, with a 3rd datamined variant to be released on a future date.
Should I Cache In?
This week we get the highest value with 3 Series-5 cards. Mockingbird is a top performing meta card that has numerous decks she can be used in. U.S. Agent is a good card as well, but with a much more niche play space. Silver Sable has all of the boxes checked to be a good card. Will she actually be as strong as predicted? I think so.
My recommendation this week is to Cache In! There is great value here across the board. If U.S. Agent was a higher meta performer, this would be an ideal cache. These cards are also great for new players and veterans alike. The only reason to hoard this week would be if you are saving up for the upcoming “Activate” cards later this season.
