Welcome back to our new weekly series Cache-ing In! Each week, we break down what cards will be available in the new Spotlight Caches, as well as the Spotlight Variants! The goal is to help you determine if you should “Cache in” for the content, or hoard for a better week.
We also now feature the other two existing cards in more detail in a separate guide, not just the new one! The goal is to give you a tutorial on how to use the card most effectively in an everchanging meta, as well as help you decide if the card is worth the tokens or if you should pick it up during a Spotlight Cache week! Check them out below:
Spotlight Cache Week of June 11, 2024
This week, the featured cards will be the new Series 5 card Sersi, as well as the return of Series 4 cards Miek and
Sersi

Week 2 of this 5 week season is already here, which means it’s time for next new card! This week, we get Sersi! She is a 5-Cost, 7-Power card with the ability “On Reveal: Transform your other cards here into random cards that cost 1 more. (if able)”. Developers have also confirmed that if she triggers multiple times from sources like Wong, cards at her location will increase Costs multiple times!
Sersi looks like the sleeper card of the season to me. Her ability can function as both a tech card and a build around! For example: If your opponent is playing a Junk deck and sends you negative Power cards like The Void or Widow's Bite, you can convert those to a 1-Cost and a 5-Cost with positive Power! In the same deck, you can run cards like Brood or Mister Sinister to have a more direct plan to use Sersi as a build-around, rather than as a tech card.
Possible Meta Deck for Sersi
This list copies a lot of the existing Patriot decks but uses Sersi to give new play lines. Brood and Absorbing Man are already a strong combo with Patriot. Add Sersi to the mix to get 3 4-Costs out of Brood. Wong allows you to play out Sersi to transform Wong into a 6-Cost, as well as get 2 triggers on other cards at that location. This could work on turn 6 to double Squirrel Girl and transform her into a 3-Cost! Mockingbird fits perfectly as you have additional cards that didn’t start in your deck. Grand Master plays a double role here of giving extra Brood, Abs Man, or Mister Sinister triggers, or he let’s Sersi move to transform 2 locations!
Low Collection Level Deck
Often times, cards with powerful effects have generally low Power. Sersi allows you to give those low Power cards a chance to get extra value. This deck makes sure you have plenty of cards to play with card generation (plus collector for the added value). If you get unhelpful cards, you can Sersi them! If you get good cards, you can play them out. You can also play cards like Iron heart, White Tiger, and Jubilee to get extra Sersi value. Odin allows you to either retrigger your best On Reveals, or use Sersi to increase more card’s cost.
Fun Sersi Deck
Focusing on the tech aspect of Sersi, this is a classic Sera Control list. Sersi fits perfectly to tech against junk you may face. She also works great to get extra value from your interference cards. Mobius can effectively slow your opponent’s momentum, but he has low Power. On turn 6, you don’t need that effect anymore, so you can use Sersi on the final turn to flip more Power to a location.
Sersi looks like an absolute blast to play and offers new ways to use cards. Any new card ability that let’s you reimagine older content is a great card to keep in your collection. Sersi does run the risk of rolling a bad card, but generally increasing Cost will net you more Power. Overall, I think Sersi will be a ton of fun and possibly low tier meta, but not top tier.

The Phoenix Force
For our accompanying cards this week, we start off with the return if an old season pass card
Take this classic list for example: Your main objective is to destroy a move card. Then you want to play
For a detailed guide on how to use
Miek

Closing out this week’s cache is the return of Miek! Discard decks have been on the rise for several months now. Though Hela typically tops the list of discard decks, Miek slots well into classic discard and casino lists. His basic function is as an alternate Morbius that can also move. This protects you from junk decks, as well as helps you reposition Power or access restricted locations.
Speaking of casino lists, this deck allows Miek to play multiple roles. Firstly, he can act as a typical discard Power boost early game. Secondly, he can give your deck a way to target what location Proxima Midnight will enter. Finally, he gives your Loki a target to reset if you draw Miek too late.
In this Hela dominated meta, Miek is often overshadowed. Once the meta favors Hela less, other decks that feature Miek more will have much more room to flourish. He is a solid card now that you can choose where to move him. His only struggle in the meta is belonging to discard decks that are less consistent than Hela. He is definitely a card worth owning if you enjoy the archetype.

Spotlight Variants
If you already own the cards the Spotlight Cache offers, one of these variants will take it’s place! If you own none of the cards, the variants will appear after you open all four caches. Spotlight variants are time exclusive to their release week, and will only be available after 1 full year of time has passed.
After the year, they will be available for purchase, though no mention of cost yet. So if any of these Spotlight variants feel like a must have for you, make sure to Cache In if you have enough caches saved to guarantee the pull.
Francesco Tomaselli is our Spotlight artist of the season, and this week we get his Sersi variant!

Alberto Dal Lago is the artist for this Miek variant. If the name sounds familiar, he was the featured artist for last season!
Should I Cache In?
This week has a lesser value than normal, giving 2 Series-4 cards and only 1 Series-5. Miek is a great option for classic discard lists. Phoenix Force creates a new archetype and can be low tier meta competitive. Sersi looks super fun and has the potential to build decks around and give new play options for existing cards like Brood.
My recommendation this week is to Cache In! There is no bad card in this lineup. The only bad aspect of this cache is the double Series 4 cards. Outside of that, the 2 existing cards have plenty of usage, and Sersi has potential. If Sersi ends up being a bad card, I would change my opinion to Hoard simply because the supporting cards can be collected easier with Tokens.
