In this week’s Marvel Snap Spotlight Cache rotation, Redwing headlines as the latest Series 5 card. Baron Zemo also makes its first Spotlight appearance since its debut as a Season Pass card in April 2024, and Loki is making another round in the Spotlight rotation.
Redwing

Redwing is the newest card added to the Spotlight system. He is a 3-Cost, 4-Power card with the ability “The first time this moves, add a card from your hand to the old location.” If you bounce this to reactivate or combine it with Symbiote Spider-Man, you don’t get a reset on the ability.
This is an interesting ability since it has such a high potential, but it’s very difficult to control. As a [3/4], just playing the card and not moving it won’t cut it. There are plenty of easy ways to move Redwing around, but how do you ensure you get good value from it? I have a few ideas…
Possible Meta Deck
Dracula hand dump is a classic Snap deck from way back in the game’s early days. This deck replaces Dracula with Redwing, but it keeps the same theme. Instead of putting down a Dracula that may just get hit by Red Guardian, you can save your win condition for the last turn. Strong Guy also benefits from your empty hand, which makes him a good card for your early game setup. Since you need to move Redwing, I also included Human Torch as a secondary move target.
I don’t expect this exact set of cards to be the best Redwing deck, but I think the idea has potential. You can make some easy swaps like
Low CL Decks
Finally, we have a week where the new card can benefit newer players! Of course, this is also an Infinaut dump deck. This one is geared towards a more accessible KaZoo-style deck. You can simply play this like a normal zoo deck, but with the added lines of pulling The Infinaut with Redwing or simply skipping Turn 5 to play him naturally. It’s nothing groundbreaking, but it works well for low CL players.
Fun Redwing Deck
This might sound crazy, but what if you put Redwing… with Cerebro? Why not! You don’t mind the simple 4-Power to fit your Cerebro theme, so you don’t always have to activate Redwing. You have Cloak and Nico Minoru as potential move enablers, and pulling a card like Klaw can steal a lot of cubes for you.
Redwing Prediction
I don’t foresee this card making a big impact on the meta, but it could make for some fun decks here and there. It doesn’t strike me as a card that you should rush to pickup, but there’s always a chance that someone cooks up a great deck that hinges on Redwing. In reality though, I think this card is very easy to pass on.
Baron Zemo

Baron Zemo has found a home in exactly one style of deck, but it’s a good one: Mill. This deck is the modern equivalent of the old school Clog decks that were extremely annoying to play against. Mill messes with your draws, destroys the effects you needed, and steals the cards you wanted. Baron Zemo pushed this deck to a competitive state by giving you enough consistency to successfully mill your opponent’s deck in most games.
Thanks to Misery and Fenris Wolf, you can really maximize your value in Mill. Since you are destroying cards with Misery, Killmonger, Lady Deathstrike, and Gladiator, you also run Death in this list as a surprise finisher. Iron Patriot gives you some unpredictability, and your high power cards let you get the discount fairly often.
Your core cards are the Mill package: Yondu, Cable, Gladiator, and Baron Zemo. As long as you have these four cards, you can turn this deck into a Clog deck, a Scream deck, or even a Gorr deck!
Some good replacement cards include Grand Master, Spider-Ham and Shadow King, Magik, Ares, and Doctor Octopus. These cards don’t necessarily have to be used together, but they all fit into the Mill shell very well by being disruptive (or taking advantage of your disruption).
Baron Zemo has proven himself to be a very strong card. If you didn’t get him as a Season Pass card, now is a great time to pick him up. He isn’t required to be meta competitive, but he is required if you want a competitive Mill deck.
Loki

Loki has gone from one of the most played cards to one of the least played cards over the last few months. Arishem‘s introduction caused Loki to get a rework. Now that Arishem also got a small rework, Loki rarely sees play in any deck. With that said, the card can still be useful.
Loki, as of now, is primarily useful with Arishem. He can essentially remove the randomness of the deck and let you keep your extra energy. Combine him with Quinjet and you can stack your hand full of discounted cards. This should allow you to adapt to the latest board state and position your final Power effectively.
This deck’s only true core cards are Loki, Arishem, and Quinjet. You can use Mockingbird to get more value from those random cards, but she isn’t required. The rest of the deck can be whatever you want, although you will often see these kind of decks filled with tech cards.
In his current state, I wouldn’t recommend Loki to anyone. He just doesn’t have a solid deck that utilizes him well. Meta decks right now are very synergistic, so drawing a small portion of their combos isn’t very helpful to you. Second Dinner have stated they intend to buff Loki if his performance isn’t good, so you could see him as an investment in your collection.
Spotlight Variants
If you already own the cards the Spotlight Caches offer, one of the variants below will take its place! If you own none of the cards, the variants will appear after you open all four caches. Spotlight Variants are time exclusive to their release week and will not be available again until further notice.
If any of these Spotlight Variants feel like a must have for you, make sure to Cache In if you have enough caches saved to guarantee the pull!
Should I Cache In?
My recommendation this week is to Hoard Your Caches. Baron Zemo is the only worthy card in this set, and he has very strict usage. None of these cards are bad, but if you are budgeting your keys this probably isn’t a great week for you.
I know I have recommended hoarding for quite a few weeks lately. If some of these upcoming Caches remain the same, there are some stellar weeks back to back that you will need your keys for. With a Series Drop a few weeks out as well, now is a good time to gather your resources and prepare for solid value. If you are itching for new cards, you can get plenty in the upcoming new game mode!
New Site Changes!
If you are familiar with this series, you may have noticed some big changes from the normal style. We asked you for feedback as we overhaul for a Marvel Snap Zone 2.0! As many of you asked for, we cut down the intros to get right into the content. We are giving you core cards and alternate cards for the decks we showcase. If you have suggestions or comments about other changes you want to see, be sure to let us know here and in the feedback article!
Thank you all for your great feedback!
