The Hot Location for the next 24 hours is Sinister London: When you play a card here, add a copy to another location. Hot Locations happen every week, starting on Sunday at 3 AM GMT. The chosen location has a 50% chance of appearing during games. Players who strategically build around the location or counter the decks that do so can have an advantage over their opponents! How will you approach the meta, and what will you do to adapt to the new season?

Strategy and General Tips

Any location that allows you to repeat or duplicate effects inevitably leads to many crazy combinations and many attempts to abuse the location and create crazy outcomes. Sinister London is one of these locations, and it’s one that can create plenty of highlight reel plays. This one, however, is limited in one significant way: we can (usually) only play four cards at the location.

Decks that can get a lot of value out of repeating the effects of key cards have a huge advantage in this location. Cards like Shuri, Iron Man, and Sera can have massive impacts on the game when played at this location. If you really want to lean into the location, running cards that come down earlier can have more immediate significance. Zabu and Green Goblin are examples of these types cards. Finally, if we can set up situations where two tech cards can hit key targets due to the location, we can create huge swings that eventually overwhelm our opponent. Valkyrie and Shang-Chi work here.

Real griefers out there can turn to Professor X and Spider-Man and try to lockout all the lanes.

The major downside of this location comes in when decks want to flood the board because every time you play into Sinister London you will clog another lane. That’s not to say you cannot play this style of deck during this hot location. Just be aware of which cards you play at the location and consider where they might end up.

Another key card to consider is Cosmo; it could lock down plenty of shenanigans based on the location.

One deck that can play into the location while including cards to hinder the opponent’s attempts at playing into the location is Devil Dinosaur / Darkhawk. This deck has some clear advantages because of the location:

  1. We have cards that are great to copy as early as Turn 1 (Quinjet, Zabu, Green Goblin, Cosmo).
  2. A duplicated Cosmo can almost guarantee that we cannot be countered, and then we can use Agent Coulson or Rockslide on the third location to buff our Devil Dinosaur or Darkhawk.
  3. We can use Shang-Chi twice.

Although this is not the flashiest approach to the location, it should prove consistent since we can take advantage early and can lock down games before the opponent has a chance to react with double Shuri plays.

Another card that is great in pairs is Jubilee. She will pull two cards from your deck (if there are two hits left); therefore, we can fill a Pool 2 deck up with cards that are good when copied anyway and then use Jubilee for more shots at pulling powerful cards out of the deck. Vision on Turn 5 is also an excellent play on Sinister London, and Professor X is the ultimate Sinister London play – if you’re ahead.

After Credits

Now I know most people really just want to know how to upset their fellow players and then pretend like they don’t enjoy being the bad guy. This deck is for those people. The goal is to make sure you have a solid lead on Turn 4 so you can lock the game with Professor X. If you miss, just play Wave and copy She-Hulk and something else on Turn 6 instead. But fair warning: if you play this deck, you are not allowed to complain about anyone else’s deck ever again.
