Morag Featured Location Guide: Strategy, Best Cards and Decks
Table of Contents
This week’s Marvel Snap Featured Location is Morag: You can’t play your first card here each turn. This is a brand new location for Marvel Snap’s The Power Cosmic Season, now added to the Location pool. For the next 48 hours, it will show up 40% more frequently in games during this feature period. Let’s find out what the best strategies, cards, and decks are!
What is Morag?

Morag was the resting place of the Power Stone. The entire planet is submerged in water which only recedes every 300 years, which was conveniently exactly the right time for Star-Lord to retrieve the Stone!
Strategy
This is an interesting location, but potentially extremely limiting over 48 hours. The reason this location is potentially limiting is the lack of effective counter play for the location. Scarlet Witch and Storm who we often see go up in play when new locations hit are ineffective as you need to play another card before them to get them into the location. The current meta is focused on a lot of 1 card per turn plans which will have some difficulty into Morag. This may open up room for return of some lower curve decks to return and cards like Sera will have extra value allowing you to play more of your cards.
Building for this location, we can either play multiple cards a turn to get into the location or we can ignore the effect and get into the location in other ways, such as Doctor Doom or Vision. There is a deck which is very strong which can create massive final turns which can push power into Morag: Sera + Mister Negative decks. The location may also make countering it harder than before but one other popular card may show up a lot during this location – Leader. If you can’t do all the hard work to get into the location, try to copy your opponent’s homework. If looking for budget options, Kazoo may be the way to go to.
Cards and Deck Ideas
These lists are starting to be built with Series 4 and 5 cards. Where they are not the feature card I will include a note on what cards to consider swapping in.
Mister Negative is the master of Turn 6 multi-turn plays. Morag will allow this to be abused as you will hopefully be able to play 3 to 4 cards on 6, combo into Morag whilst pushing power into other lanes.
Bast is the Series 5 card here which elevates the deck, if your missing this card replacing with Angela or Bishop are both valid.
Leader decks are very popular regardless of what you think of the card. This is because it allows you to try and equalize the final turn and take advantage of priority leads. This deck doesn’t necessarily want priority but it can use Electro to play an early Leader and double that on turns 5 and 6 with Odin.
Vision and Aero should be great turn 5’s without ramp for the location. Odin on Aero is also a crippling combo for many decks, especially if they are trying to make a final turn play into Morag.
Ebony Maw may be a drop as the meta develops, however the idea here is to use this with Armor or Sunspot to get into Morag early and use Vision or Doom to add more power lately. If you can get Ebony Maw or Sunspot into Morag they may be enough to carry the location against some decks.
This deck is reliant on Shuri but versions could be built without her. Plan here is to Shuri into Vision or Aero, copy with Taskmaster on 6. Hitting Vision if the premium as it allows for the power to be moved where you need it. The early game is focused on getting some cards into the location or stacking lanes.
Zero and Titania can be swapped for other packages. Including Leader is also valid consideration.
What You Should Play
With the season coming to a close soon, Mister Negative feels like the correct choice this week. Leech play has declined and the ability to still play for Turn 6 and use the location makes this deck highly recommended.
Pool 1
This week the Series 1 and Series 2 decks double as the basis for what could be considered the budget option into the location. If your firmly still in Series 1, this version is for you. There is no need for Armor yet so we can use the spots more effectively with Elektra. Squirrel Girl can work to put cards in if stuck, but also would like to note I prefer Blade in this spot.
Pool 2
As Killmonger starts to show up, including Armor is almost required. Sunspot is good as you may be wasting energy holding cards to get into Morag. You may also need to skip turns to buff Sunspot later in games to win locations. Remember America Chavez is not there to be played, she makes the rest of the deck more consistent.
Final Turn
Remember at the time of writing, these starter decks are untested. These are theorycraft ideas to get you going and looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with for Morag.
