| Card | Series | Variant |
|---|---|---|
| Thanos | 5 | Marko Djurdjević |
| X-23 | 5 | Wolverine |
| Echo | 5 | Phoenix Force |
This month starts with the return of Thanos! This card has dropped in popularity as multiple nerfs have hit both Thanos and the cards surrounding him. With that said, this card is still viable in several different deck styles. His Spotlight Variant is a repeat from his last feature, which is due to the developers apparently not having enough variants to feature new ones each time.
X-23 sees her second appearance this month. Her ability allows destroy decks to have unique lines of play by ramping big cards like Knull out early. It also functions as a repeatable destroy card for lowering Death‘s cost. If you enjoy the Destroy archetype, this card is definitely a fun card for your arsenal.
Also making her second Spotlight Cache appearance, Echo will be available this week. Her unique ability never found a home in any meta decks. She can be good at protecting a lane from Cosmo or stopping an opponent’s Iron Man, but your opponent will often just not play in her lane, similar to avoiding playing onto Cosmo. Her other big weakness is that she is a 1-Cost, making her easily removable.
Week of October 11, 2023
| Card | Series | Variant |
|---|---|---|
| Man-Thing | 4 | Nightforged |
| Silver Samurai | 5 | Chibi |
| Lady Deathstrike | 5 | Juan Doe |
Making his first appearance this week, Man-Thing is available in the Spotlight Cache this week! His ability can not only help junk decks, but also punish decks that fill their lanes with low cost cards like Sunspot, Armor, and Nebula. His biggest weakness is Luke Cage, which makes his ability do nothing. This makes his overall power as high as a [4/13] or as weak as a [4/5]. I suspect this card will be bad at first with everyone using Luke Cage as a tech, but will eventually be a fairly strong card in the right deck once the card’s hype dies down.
Silver Samurai makes his second Spotlight Cache appearance this week. Like many cards in his season, this card hasn’t found any meta decks. The 2 biggest usages are using him to discard Iron Man and bring it back with Ghost Rider, and to decimate an opponent’s hand with Moon Knight, Silver Samurai, and Black Bolt. Overall, this card hasn’t proven itself to be very string.
Lady Deathstrike also makes her second appearance this week. This card is a bit more interesting the second time around because she saw a buff to get an extra power. Many players avoided her due to her lack of strength, so it will be interesting to see if players give her another chance now. Her usage so far seems to be primarily in combo decks using Forge or Shuri and Arnim Zola to destroy most of the cards on the board.
Week of October 18, 2023
| Card | Series | Variant |
|---|---|---|
| Black Knight | 5 | Nightforged |
| Stature | 4 | Steampunk |
| 4 | Wild Blue |
This week’s new card, that I am excited to test with, is Black Knight. His ability creates a unique card draw for a few different decks. The biggest play line would be Black Knight ▶ Lady Sif ▶ Ebony Blade ▶ Ghost Rider. This allows you to play 2 The Infinauts without skipping a single turn. If your opponent doesn’t use Mobius M. Mobius, you can also use Zabu to play both the Ebony Blade and Ghost Rider on turn 6 for a massive power swing!
Seeing her 3rd Spotlight feature, Stature makes another appearance this week. This card used to be very strong with Black Bolt. You could argue she still is, but with Mobius now available, her discount no longer is guaranteed to trigger, which makes her pretty useless.
The developers have again paired
Week of October 25, 2023
| Card | Series | Variant |
|---|---|---|
| Nico Minoru | 5 | Nightforged |
| Kitty Pryde | 5 | Kim Jacinto |
| 5 | Dan Hipp |
Being one of the bigger mystery cards of the season, Nico Minoru makes her Spotlight debut this week. Will this card be good? That’s the big question. Will this card be fun? I think it absolutely will! Many of her spells have insanely strong effects such as drawing 2 cards or transforming your next card into a Demon. Will her randomness make her flexible, or too unpredictable? I’m excited to get my hands on this card and see!
Joining Nico this week is Kitty Pryde. If you don’t already own this card, Kitty is still a powerful card despite her nerfs. She can trigger Angela multiple times without filling your lane, she can proc Bishop and The Collector every turn, and she can deny Nebula from growing without over committing to a lane!
Also joining this week is

| Card | Series | Variant |
|---|---|---|
| Werewolf By Night | 5 | Nightforged |
| Silk | 5 | In-Hyuk Lee |
| Ghost-Spider | 5 | Baby |
This season is a 5 week month, which means we get a 5th Spotlight and another new card! The final card this month is Werewolf By Night. This card looks to be incredibly strong since so many on reveal cards are active in the meta. Not only can thus card grow to a very high power for his cost, he also can move to any lane you choose. This will constantly make your opponent guess where your final power will land in a lane. I think this card will be a staple in many decks going forward.
Silk sees her second Spotlight release this week. While overlooked on release, this card has rapidly gained popularity. Her strongest deck is in the Angela + Kraven deck. She can activate Angela and leave her lane, while also being able to move multiple times to activate Kraven!
Ghost-Spider joins Silk this week in making her second Spotlight appearance. This card doesn’t see as much play as during the move season, but the card is still usable. Her primary usages are in move decks, making her a necessary way to let move cards travel to the right (or left) location. She also sees play in the
