Marvel Snap Patch Schedule – April 9, 2024 Update Delayed

The next Marvel Snap patch update, originally scheduled for April 9, 2024 (four weeks after the previous one), has been delayed until further notice according to Second Dinner’s communication with content creators. We have the full scoop about the upcoming patch below! Keep in mind that the release of Series 5 card U.S. Agent and the Spotlight Cache rotation should still happen as usual.

Patch and OTA Balance Update Schedule

Usually, the Marvel Snap patches are on a four-weekly cycle and the next patch was expected on April 9, 2024, and the OTA Balance updates generally every two weeks. The dates for April 2024 has been semi-confirmed by Glenn Jones of Second Dinner:

Q: I remember some suggestions last month that things would be pushed back a bit due to last months patch being delayed. But I don’t think we ever got final dates locked in for this month? (Btw, any chance we could get patch/ota date put on the discord as events-like spotlight caches and shop takeovers-would make it a lot easier to keep track of them.)

A: We are still target an OTA on 4/4 and a patch on 4/30. We’ll almost certainly do another OTA between those points, but are waiting to see some more data before we decide on that.

Expected Patch Content

The next two features that can be expected for Marvel Snap, according to the latest Development Roadmap, are Character Mastery and In-Game Events:

What are In-Game Events?

On Snap, we aim to keep the game fresh every week, so in 2024, we’re introducing in-game events. Over the year, we will gradually add new and varying types of events. The first one looks like it’ll be something we’ve tentatively titled ‘Leagues.’ When a League Event is active, you will be matched up against a small number of other players near your skill and collection level. During the event, you will compete to see who can earn the most cubes to earn awesome rewards. Do you have what it takes to win your League?

We hope this is the first of many different types of events we’ll introduce over time. During and after each event we will take in your feedback and make adjustments for new events and iterations of existing events. Make sure to share your feedback with us on Discord and fill out our posted surveys!

Leagues have already been teased in this month’s Developer Update, as a region-locked feature (for selected Europe countries) towards the end of the month most likely aligned with the announced April 30, 2024 patch update.

What is Character Mastery?

Various emote reactions have already been teased in relation to this feature, but no expected date has been announced yet.

Well, now is the time to show off your mastery of playing and collecting each character in Marvel Snap! After Character Mastery launches, every cosmetic you collect for a character will contribute towards unlocking brand new Splits and exclusive rewards. If you thought Gold, Ink, and Krackle were fun, we have even more fun on the way! Earned your 4th Iron Man variant? Gain Iron Man Mastery. Earned your 3rd Gamora avatar? Gain Gamora Mastery. Split Venom for the 157th time, gain Mastery. As your Mastery for a character goes up, you unlock new and cooler Splits and eventually a brand new cosmetic type, Reactions. Exclusively available as a Mastery reward for each character, reactions are the fun emoji you can show off on cards and locations. What if your reaction was Goose or Wolverine? Your opponent will immediately know your dedication and love for that character when you show it off.

In its current Design, every few levels of Character Mastery you gain unlocks a Mastery Milestone. Each character has unique Mastery Milestone challenges for you to complete! Imagine reaching Deadpool Mastery 10 and unlocking a challenge to have Deadpool be over 100 power in a match. Completing a Mastery Milestone will earn new rewards for that character potentially including new Split unlocks, a new Collectible Border, or currencies to help you continue to increase your Collection Level. This is the current design, and it may change by the time we launch it, but we can’t wait to share it with you!

Conclusion

There has been numerous patch delays in Marvel Snap’s history and they varied from a day or two and up to one week. Notably, the March 2024 patch update was delayed one week from 5th to 12th, which had some new features such as the Custom Card, Graveyard, and Undo End Turn button.
