March 2025 Series Drop Guide – Which Cards Do We Want?

How will the upcoming Series Drop affect you? This guide breaks down the cards dropping in Series, and the affected decks.

The last two Series drops happened about 9 months ago in June 2024 and about 2.5 months ago in December 2024, and the overall sentiment was “not enough”. It seems like Second Dinner heard the criticism because we have a plethora of cards dropping this time! A full 12 cards are going from Series 5 to 4, and 13 are going from Series 4 to 3.

Another major difference about this Series Drop is that there are plenty of cards from the current meta included. Notable inclusions in Series 5 are Skaar and Cull Obsidian from the 10 Power archetype, as well as Sebastian Shaw, a staple in Silver Surfer decks. Among the soon-to-be free cards that newer players can get excited about are Zabu, Mobius M. Mobius, Nebula, and Lady Deathstrike.

If you need some help to plan your future expenses, or if you’re wondering if any decks have suddenly become budget friendly to play, this guide is for you!

Drops From Series 4 to Series 3

There are 13 cards are going from Series 4 to Series 3, which means they’re going from requiring 3,000 Collector’s Tokens or some Spotlight Keys to being available in one of the three following ways:

Cards I Would Just Wait to Get From a Collector’s Reserve

Unfortunately, none of these cards are part of the current meta. Havok can be played in the Small Good Cards archetype, but I wouldn’t spend any resources to get him other than the free monthly Series 3 “ticket” I’m offered. I can play plenty of other cards in that deck if I’m missing Havok, such as Adam Warlock, Iron Man, or Valkyrie—all of which are free.

As for the other four, they unfortunately don’t contribute to their synergy much at the moment (in terms of optimized decks). Otherwise, I would consider Silk or Hercules in any Move deck with Kraven included. Indeed, these two could be fine replacements for a missing Madame Web or Araña if you don’t want to spend tokens on them. Ghost-Spider is also dropping to Series 3, and she would likely be my target for a Move deck if I could only pick one of those cards.

Nimrod and Selene are the worst ones from a competitive standpoint. However, they do unlock specific synergies that can be very fun to play with. I personally fell in love with the Nimrod Destroyer deck a while ago, and it just so happens that Knull is also dropping to Series 3 so that deck suddenly got much cheaper to assemble.

I could vouch for Selene if you enjoy playing Galactus, but that is unfortunately all the 1-Cost is good for at the moment.

Cards I Would Target if You Enjoy Their Specific Archetype

Knull for a Destroy deck, MODOK for Discard, and Ghost-Spider for Move, all of these are pretty simple cards to assess. If I had to rank each of these archetypes, I would give the nod to Discard at the moment—especially if you have Bullseye since that would mean you can likely play both Dracula Discard and Bullseye Discard.

If you don’t know which one to pick, look at the other cards you would need to make those decks work. Destroy requires you to have X-23, a Series 4 card, to play the deck to its full potential.MODOK is a little pricier because you’ll want at least Scorn from Series 5, and maybe Bullseye to play that specific deck. However, Discard is more flexible than Destroy as an archetype, so I’m sure you can build a budget deck quite easily. Finally, Ghost-Spider is mostly used in decks with several Series 5 cards, so that is probably the one to skip if your budget is the deciding factor.

Cards I Would Want in My Collection

Spider-Ham doesn’t see much play, but is a great card to have available. Indeed, whenever you see too many synergistic decks, you can simply slot this card into a deck that has a flexible slot and Snap whenever you hit one of your opponent’s key cards. I mentioned Havok in a previous section, and I would rather grab Spider-Ham and play it in Small Good Cards.

This is a great card in certain metas, especially if you have Arishem. Lady Deathstrike can single-handedly beat certain decks that are built around low power cards. Plus, you can use her in a Destroy oriented deck as a support card.

Nebula is a solid 1-Cost for many decks, and even better when you have cards that benefit from knowing where your opponent might play their cards. Rocket and Groot is a great card at the moment, and a free Nebula only makes it better.

If Spider-Ham and Lady Deathstrike can beat certain deck when things go right, Mobius M. Mobius wins those matches as long as you draw the card. Energy cheating decks are the most powerful ones in card games, so being able to stop them is a huge blow to many decks.

Zabu is the best 1-Cost card in the game at the moment, so this is a no-brainer for me as far as #1 goes. You might not like the synergies that use the card at the moment, but any time a new 4-Cost releases (or a new card that synergizes with a 4-Cost), Zabu will enter the chat.

Drops From Series 5 to Series 4

In my opinion, the most impactful card in this entire Series Drop is Zabu, and I would probably give the second spot to Mobius M. Mobius. I also feel like there are more flexible cards dropping to Series 3 than Series 4, so I would likely target some of them if I wanted to unlock a specific archetype.

You can collect Series 4 cards in two different ways:

  • Spend 3,000 Collector’s Tokens to get them from the Shop
  • Open Spotlight Caches in a week that they’re featured
Cards I Would Just Wait to Get From a Future Spotlight Cache

I honestly like a lot of these cards, but none of them are needed in the current Marvel Snap environment. Loki and Blob have not been a part of the game since Arishem stopped playing them, and both Black Knight and Corvus Glaive followed the same path within the Discard synergy.

Annihilus, Werewolf By Night, and Elsa Bloodstone are playable cards for sure, and I would happily get them if they were dropping to Series 3. However, unless you really want to play these cards, I cannot recommend spending 3,000 Collector’s Tokens on them because they aren’t essential to playing the archetypes associated with their play style.

For example, the best builds of Clog do not run Annihilus, although you could be interested in grabbing it if you really like Selene and broke the bank to get Galactus. The same can be said for Werewolf By Night (which I love as a card); it is hard to spend on it when you could use Bishop or Hit Monkey in that role.

Cards I Would Spend 3,000 Tokens on if You Enjoy Their Specific Archetype

Skaar is soon to be featured in a Spotlight Cache, so this card is naturally the one I would not spend Tokens on if I had to pick. However, if you plan on getting Skaar on March 11, you probably want Cull Obsidian as well considering both cards appear in the same deck. You could also wait for April 8, as Cull Obsidian will be in that week’s Spotlight Caches (as far as we know).

As for Sebastian Shaw, the card is a key element in Silver Surfer decks, which are pretty cheap to build apart from this specific card. This is probably my recommendation for anyone on a budget for the near future.

Cards I Would Spend 3,000 Tokens on if You’re Willing to Build Around Their Ability

Neither Ms. Marvel nor Cannonball are needed in the current meta. However, you can run the Ongoing 4-cost in the Ongoing Combo deck, and Cannonball is a fine addition to the Scream archetype (but you can play those decks without them, too).

The thing is, I also consider these two as solid standalone cards that you could include in Good Cards types of decks. If you enjoy building a flexible collection that is made from cards that can be used in a variety of decks, I believe these two are probably your best targets among the cards dropping to Series 4.

Decks That Are Getting Cheaper

Typhoid Mary replaced Ares, which leaves only Surtur as a necessary Series 5 card in the deck. Overall, this deck got 9,000 tokens cheaper, a bargain if it still rules the Marvel Snap meta in March.

You should run Nico Minoru instead of either Lady Deathstrike or Arnim Zola if you want the full deck, but with Knull and Lady Deathstrike both dropping to Series 3 Destroy is becoming a very affordable deck. Only X-23 is a mandatory Series 4 card.

There are a few Series 5 cards you could use to improve this deck, such as Nico Minoru and Symbiote Spider-Man. Still, this Phoenix Force deck gets 6,000 tokens cheaper with Nimrod and Ghost-Spider both joining Series 3.

Feel free to replace Spider-Ham for Nova and any 3-Cost for Killmonger if you like the deck that way, I just wanted to showcase the utility of the card as a flexible 1-Cost. Once again, you could improve this deck with some Series 5 bling like Galacta or Gwenpool. But even players on a budget can play Silver Surfer now, as the entire deck just costs 3,000 Collector’s Tokens (Sebastian Shaw‘s new price).

I didn’t need to include all four, but Knull replaced Alioth, and Lady Deathstrike over Blink actually makes sense as a follow-up to Electro. If you add these two to the often included Selene and Cannonball, Galactus is now the only Series 5 card you need in order to play this deck.
