After meaningful balance changes, it can be difficult to get our groove going. Whether it is because our favorite deck isn’t working anymore, or the matchups are different and we need to learn more about their intricacies. We can be quick to dislike this new meta environment, as all the comfort we built up in the previous is gone!
So how can we fix this, and start building towards our next streak of wins?
This is exactly the topic of today’s coaching session. From relying on your own strengths as a player to focus on what you’re good at, to picking decks you know the basics already, so the environment doesn’t impact your play lines too much. We can use many leverages to limit how much knowledge we need to have to perform. Similarly, there are techniques we can use to lower the importance of knowing exactly what is in our opponent’s deck, as we can’t really know for sure at this point.
Then, we dive into the core of today’s session: How to actually learn more about the metagame? Sure, you can watch streams, videos, or read articles, as these will absolutely help towards gathering more information to incorporate in your decision-making process. But nothing beats experience. Then, today’s playing session will be “no retreat allowed”. Plus, we need to get out of every loss naming something we learned in that game.
It can be pretty scary to go into a game and be forced to stay even if your opponent snaps. Unfortunately, this is also a great way to be fully involved into each game, and make them matter. This way, we focus much more on how both deck develop their synergies and not as much on the Cubes. We will lose Cubes we shouldn’t have, but we’ll also win some we didn’t think were within reach. Either way, we are collecting more information per game than if we allowed ourselves to leave early on.
With this exercise, we force ourselves to focus on the bigger picture, considering the lost Cubes like an investment in future games, where we’ll know what the right decision is, instead of constantly trying to guess. It isn’t particularly fun at times, but can provide some great comebacks.

If you want to join us, these sessions are for any Premium member on Marvel Snap Zone. Group sessions can be scary, but we do our best to include everyone, and help you improve.
