Strategy and General Tips

This location will limit decks looking to play lots of 1 drops as they will be unable to play into the location without other reductions. We can use this by either by playing decks which don’t rely on the 1 drops to win the game or potentially use the deterrence of the location to our benefit!

First we have the option of locking down the lane on early with a card like Storm as we can be confident most that the early game cards will be played elsewhere. One direction worth trying at the moment is combining this with an On Reveal package to go wide later in the game. We also can simply go to the popular Lockdown shells and use the location to our advantage.

Decks that flood the board often outpower decks that can go tall with limited cards. We can take advantage of the location’s limitations with Darkhawk decks that have been outpaced by these decks recently and this location may make these decks more effective.

Scarlet Witch is stronger than a regular location effect for this location. It will allow a deck which in theory should not be able to get into the location to explode onto the location. This could be combined with Bounce decks or Sera decks to surprise your opponents who don’t think your able to compete for the location early on. This can be a way to use this location for Cube gains whilst still playing some of the strongest decks in the game right now.

This Lockdown list looks to limit the number of 1 drops played in the deck to Nebula. We play more control tools with Daredevil and we have Shocker in this version over Jeff the Baby Land Shark (If you have Jeff swap him back in for this slot) to allow for earlier plays of our more expensive plays like Spider-Man and Professor X.

Darkhawk decks can be built with very few one drops and this version cuts Quinjet which can inadvertently drop other cards to 1 also. Instead we want to play big Ongoing cards and copy them across to other lanes. As one lane could be harder for any deck with 1 drops, so we can commit our bigger cards there with potentially less ability to be challenged.

Sera Control may appear locked out due to the reductions, but Scarlet Witch before the final turn may steal large amounts of Cubes. If you can present as if your playing Bounce and your opponent Snaps seeing you can’t get into the location, Scarlet Witch will change the game state. You also have plenty of late game control tools which counter decks which are good for the location.

This On Reveal deck can focus well on two lanes. We can do this with very few one drops and retrigger some of the earlier On Reveals. Odin and White Tiger remains a strong enough power play in the early series and this location helps by narrowing the game we need to play.

What is the Hellfire Club?

The Hellfire Club is a fictional secret society appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The Hellfire Club often comes into confrontation with the mutant superhero team, the X-Men. Although the Club appears to merely be an international social club for wealthy elites, its clandestine Inner Circle seeks to influence world events, in accordance with their own agenda. The Hellfire Club was founded in the 18th century by Sir Francis Dashwood, and has since had many different incarnations. The current Inner Circle is led by Sebastian Shaw, and includes Emma Frost, Donald Pierce, and Harry Leland. The Hellfire Club has been involved in many major events in the Marvel Universe, including the Phoenix Saga and the Inferno crossover.
