Other Questions
Q: Does the Cap shield buff Captain Carter when moving to her location?
A: Glenn “No. Sam’s token is Captain America’s Shield, and she’s not Captain America. (Note the Union Jack)”
Q: Does Ben Brode actually have jury duty like the dev update said?
A: Griffin “He actually did have Jury Duty this last month which inspired the team to use Puppet Ben in his place for the Dev Update as his availability was limited.”
Q: Will there be any response to complaints about Character Mastery diluting the split pool?
A: Griffin “We’re absolutely investigating changes. We plan for Character Masterty to continue to iterate over time based on your feedback.”
Q: Will we be getting a roadmap update anytime soon?
A: Glenn “No new update. The publishing changes are keeping many of us on the publishing team (and beyond!) very busy at the moment.
We’ll keep you updated on what’s coming in SNAP. We’re not working on a new Roadmap currently but we’ve had discussions on how and when to update everyone going forward.”
Q: Are there any plans to add more news like compensation or bug awareness in-game, instead of having most news be announced on Discord?
A: Griffin “We absolutely want to improve our in-game messaging abilities. Those systems take time to develop and have various limitations. One, for instance, is localization. If we want to post a message to ALL players, it requires us to send it for translation which can take days to come back.
In order to remain timely with our responses, coming here and sharing updates is the quickest and easiest way to alert players.”
Q: Could cards like High Evolutionary give you opportunities to make factions/team ups possible?
A: Glenn “While I can’t say what it will ultimately look like today, I personally expect we will feature some expression of Marvel’s awesome teams in SNAP.”
Snap Pack Questions
Q: I have questions about the upcoming Snap Packs!
A: Griffin “We’ll be answering questions on Snap Packs like this one in the coming weeks in a more formal ‘Q&A’ format. Feel free to keep posting them but we’ll do our best to answer as many as we can in bulk later on.”
Q: Snap Packs say they contain cards from 2 previous seasons. Is this directly the last 2 seasons, or 2 random seasons from the past?
A: Griffin “It’s chronological. So the current season, the last season, and the one before that. Not random.”
Q: When Snap Packs roll out, will the 100 Token reward in Collector’s Reserves be phased out?
A: Griffin “They’ll remain as-is.”
Q: Will existing Token costs remain the same with Snap Packs?
A: Griffin “Yes. Spotlight and pinned card prices are not changing. 6000 for S5, 3000 for S4, 1000 for S3.”
Q: Will it take the same 120 collection level upgrades to get the 3000 tokens as it was for the spotlight keys?
A: Griffin “Yep!”
Q: In the post about Snap Packs, it says that they will either release with the patch on April 29th or June 3rd. Is this a mistake or was the May patch delayed a week?
A: Glenn “We don’t release patches monthly, we release them based on a number of weeks. That’s often 4 weeks, but sometimes we add one or delay a patch. April 29th and June 3rd are 5 weeks apart, so there won’t be a May patch (unless one of those dates moves into May).”
Q: Why are keys being converted at a rate of 3,000 Tokens instead of 6,000 like their actual value in game?
A: Glenn “Spotlight Keys don’t convert into Series 5 cards at a 1:1 rate, though they can sometimes do that.
A new card currently takes (on average) ~2.5 Keys to earn because it’s 1 of 4 outcomes in a Spotlight Cache. That would put its value at about 2400 tokens, if you’re basing the value of a Key primarily on exchanging it for each week’s new Series 5 card. So 3000 tokens for a Key would be 125% of their current value, using your criteria above.
However, there are of course other variables being accounted for in that. Being able to choose any Series 5 card rather than only a card in the Cache, being able to target cards from different Series, no longer getting Spotlight variants for some keys, other extra cards, etc. So while it’s actually a more complex calculation, I do believe that 3000 tokens are (on average) more valuable than a Spotlight Key, not less. (And there are a few new ways to use tokens, too)”
Q: Will the new Series 4/5 pools contain only new cards in Snap Packs, or can you get duplicates?
A: Glenn “It contains all cards but you can’t get duplicates. When you open a pack it will always be a card you don’t own.”
Q: How many cards can we expect to receive in each Snap Pack, considering there are 1 unowned card and 2 bonus rewards?
A: Griffin “1 card per pack. However, as stated, there is a chance one of the bonus rewards is an extra card.”
Q: When Snap Packs go live, will there be changes to the weekend token missions?
A: Glenn “No changes.”
Q: Will new cards be released only into Snap Packs, or can you still get them with Tokens at launch?
A: Griffin “The newest card will be featured to purchase directly in the Spotlight for Tokens, just like it is now. They’ll also be available in the New S5 Packs, which will have a pool of all S5 cards from the previous season and current season.”
Q: When you say Snap Packs will be avalible for the current and past 2 seasons, does that mean the pack will grow by 1 card each week? And only shrink back once the next season starts?
A: Griffin “For New Series 5 Packs, yes.”
Q: What will happen to the key rewards in albums?
A: Griffin “They’ll convert into 3K Tokens each.”
Q: Will the current season pass card be included in Snap Packs? What about the previous season?
A: Glenn “Not the current Season’s card, but the previous one yes.”
Q: Will we be able to hoard booster packs, or will they open as soon as you get them?
A: Glenn “They’ll be opened upon acquisition, like Portal Pulls. We may introduce variations in the future.”
Q: Will there be a limit on how many Snap Packs you can open in a week?
A: Glenn “No current plan to limit them, though it’s possible we’ll introduce some specialized pack at some point that might merit that.”
Questions From You!
Each week, I ask readers of the weekly dev update to leave their questions down in the comment section. That way we can ask those questions on your behalf, or let you know the answers if those questions have been asked before! I read each comment you leave, so I will be adding this section at the end of each week’s edition to highlight your questions that you asked last week!
Q: When exactly are we getting the Khonshu/Eson mission compensation?
A: Griffin confirmed all compensation has been issued. If you haven’t recieved yours, reach out to customer support or reach out to the devs on discord”
Q: After Mobius is played on your side, why does She-Hulk increase in cost after being decreased?
A: Her Cost isn’t increasing, simply returning to normal. The same concept applies when Namor loses Power when sharing a location, even if Luke Cage is on the board and prevents Power loss. He isn’t losing Power, his bonus Power isn’t active anymore.
Q: Why does the Marvel Rivals Magik variant’s armor change from black to gold when previewing her at higher levels?
A: This has been reported on discord as a bug. No further info yet though.
