Cloning Vats Hot Location Guide: Strategy, Best Cards and Decks

This week's Marvel Snap Hot Location is Cloning Vats: After you play a card here, add a copy to your hand. This location will show up 50% more frequently in games for the next 24 hours. Here are our proposed strategies with the best cards and decks that you can try (including for Pool 1 and Pool 2 players) for the new meta!

The Hot Location for the next 24 hours is Cloning Vats: After you play a card here, add a copy to your hand. This is a Hot Location for Marvel Snap’s June 2023 season, Spider-Versus, that start on selected Wednesdays and Sundays at 3 AM GMT. For 24 hours, it has a 50% chance of showing up in games. Players who strategically build around the location or counter the decks that do so can have an advantage over their opponents! Let’s find out what the best strategies, cards, and decks are for the new meta and season!

Strategy and General Tips

Cloning Vats rewards cards which scale On Reveal and can be replayed to scale for more power. These include cards like Carnage which gets the benefit then re-joins your hand and cards like Human Torch which will move, double in power, then re-join your hand to be replayed. These directions are often the better way to go with this location as you can gain value and then reduce the number of cards on the location to do it all again. The problem is clogging the location with low value duplications so ensuring you have ways to reset the low powered cards can be key to winning this location.

With this being the general strategy, we can counter by playing a deck which includes strong counter cards like Shang-Chi and Killmonger or we can turn the location off using cards like Scarlet Witch and Storm. Additionally if your opponent is focusing on one lane you have the opportunity to punish them with Professor X or Galactus decks.

We are also hot on the heels of the new season launch. Experimentation with move will potentially be higher than normal so considering how we counter the Move cards I key to most the decks this week. This week’s decks were built with some insights from the first hours of play with Ghost-Spider and what the Movement decks tend to struggle against in mind.

Destroy is excellent into Cloning Vats. The cards scale on the location providing you more and more value as you replay the effects. Additionally if we are running a version with Knull we get to put all this work into our Turn 6 play also. This deck will simply overwhelm the location whilst leaving you with plenty of value in hand to win another lane on turn 6.

Move can do additional work on the location due to the ability to move the cards of the location for extra value. The risk is the location still fills up. Adding the bounce cards of Beast and Falcon let us pick back up the main scaling cards, Human Torch and Kitty Pryde so we can make more of them. Your hand will fill up quickly, the trick is to decide when you don’t need to draw anymore and have as many scaled cards in hand as possible going into Turn 6.

Sera Control, this being the most popular version, is well placed with this location to counter the greedy strategies and has Kitty Pryde you can copy on the location. This is a strong plan to use for this location as your getting some benefit whilst being able to cripple opposing plans. This should be strong into most other decks also unless we are facing Wave.

Whilst your opponent is messing around scaling using the location or moving cards around with Ghost-Spider, Lockdown and Galactus are stronger. This deck has one plan, don’t let your opponent play the game the way they want too. To achieve this we have both Galactus and Professor X to ramp to, Doctor Octopus to pull all the synergy cards out of their hands and Spider-Man as another way to lock a lane. Howard the Duck and Iron Lad appear as ways to hit these cards more consistently (we don’t need Howard the Duck here but with more targets to pull maybe he works).

Here Devil Dinosaur benefits from our refilled hand and we can use Carnage to scale a 2 drop for later plays. We can also use the Vats to play Dino on turns 5 and 6 which can be enough in lower Series play. Nothing too fancy here, just a strong shell anyway, which benefits from the location.

What is the Cloning Vats?

Step into the realm of cutting-edge science and ethical dilemmas with Cloning Vats, a fascinating concept within the Marvel Universe. Cloning vats represent the forefront of genetic engineering and replication technology, offering a glimpse into a world where the boundaries of life and creation are pushed to new limits. These scientific marvels have been featured in various storylines, raising thought-provoking questions about identity, morality, and the nature of existence.

They are often a plot device with Marvel to allow for an ever expanding roster of various versions of characters which can then spin off into more stories and comics creating a never ending factory of storytelling! Like Benjamin Reilly, one of the most famous clones of Spider-Man.
