Kahhori Decks & Week in Review: Bonus Challenge Guide

Decks to use for this week's Bonus Challenge missions and performance review of the featured cards.

Captain Carter is in a weird spot at the moment. The Season Pass card is clearly the weakest to come out in months, but it has found a place in some of the best performing archetypes in the game, which has kept her relevant. However, if you look at her statistics, you can clearly see that Captain Carter is losing momentum the more you progress through the ranks. This shows that it isn’t fit for the more competitive scene of the game.

Kahhori is off to a good start, finding a slot in the great Thanos archetype to polish up her Cube and Win Rates. The new 4-Cost is also helping the Created Cards synergy be relevant once again, which was also aided by the Devil Dinosaur buff in the OTA. Already, Kahhori has proven she can be a part of the meta via joining the list of a top contender. If she can also push an underused archetype, she could end up as a very impactful card—and another important 4-Cost to own.

Kahhori isn’t doing bad since her release or after the OTA, both in the ranks leading up to Infinite and within. The new 4-Cost even helped decks with Victoria Hand and Devil Dinosaur post solid results, which indicates a fairly positive impact on the game.

It is important to note, however, that Kahhori‘s best performance is when slotted in a Thanos deck, an archetype that was already among the top performers before her release. Funnily enough, Kahhori is played in Thanos Ongoing alongside Wiccan, beating Captain Carter for the slot.

I’d say this is a solid start for Kahhori overall.

Post-Release Score:

Rating: 7 out of 10.

The evolution of Captain Carter as you progress through the ranks says it all. The higher you get in the Ladder, the worse the card performs in both Cube Rate and Win Rate. There is a simple explanation: as you face more experienced opponents, you’re less likely to get away with playing Captain Carter for good value. Indeed, as you climb the Ladder you are more likely to face counter cards, players who are able to determine whether they can or cannot contest Captain Carter‘s location, and generally stronger decks.

This month’s Season Pass card looks like a fine card to get a run to Infinite started, but you might run out of steam as you get closer to the finish line. At that point I would recommend replacing her with a former Season Pass cards instead.

Bonus Challenge Decks

With both cards being a decent fit in the deck, Thanos should be your go-to deck to complete the missions this weekend. Here is the best performing build at the moment, but note that it doesn’t feature Captain Carter. However, it is quite simple to replace Alioth for Spectrum and find another card to replace with Captain Carter if you want to tackle all missions at once.

Otherwise, here are some other decks for each card where it is much trickier to play them together.

The “Created Cards” archetype is making a comeback with Kahhori. With the card releasing just a few days ago combined with the OTA, don’t see these 12 cards as a rock-solid recommendation. Copycat and Wiccan in particular are just used as strong standalones here, but the likes of Shang-Chi, Cosmo, and Shadow King could also be great contributors.

This sort of Control build is even more difficult to assess than the deck above, as it seems to heavily rely on strong standalone cards more than anything. Just the fact that Kahhori can be associated with the best cards in the game is a sort of validation for the card’s power, though.

Even though she is still struggling to post good results outside of top tier archetypes, Captain Carter has three very strong decks she can be played in. The Control archetype is the top pick in terms of performance, but the Thanos Ongoing list at the top of this section and this Ongoing Doom deck are also solid choices.
