6. Makkari – 144

Note: There has made a late balance change on the upcoming Makkari card according to Second Dinner. It’s changing from [3/3] to [3/4]!

Makkari … well, I don’t much like Makkari. Yes, he’s a free card, but the lack of control over where he plays is terrifying, particularly in Silver Surfer where board space is at a premium since the deck runs Brood and Absorbing Man. Still, in Surfer, it’s usually a free 5-power, which is pretty valuable, and it can also be a fairly hilarious free card for decks that run Moon Girl. There are a lot of good Surfer cards right now though, so for this to see play, it’s going to need to be great.

  • It’ll be decent in Cerebro & Surfer, but the spots are super competitive in those decks, so I doubt it’ll be included for long. – Den
  • This card is a tax write off. It’s literally free! – JDMacdonalinho
  • It’s interesting that super-speed is represented in Marvel Snap by the absence of any useful ability. Surfer decks are not about to cut a real card for this. – Benjamin Roller
  • FREE surfer card 🙂 – DoeyKat
  • Zero cost 3/3 will definitely see play. – SnapDecks
  • What if we took one step away from Black Cat? This will be a good card. – Mottelz
  • This is stronger than people think. Silver Surfer decks can rarely play all the cards out, so one that jumps out of hand for free is actually good. However, it’s a one deck card and doesn’t have enough power to be ranked higher this month. – Safetyblade
  • This card is awesome! Deff a set it and forget it card in a deck. – Prashaun
  • The Most interesting boring card. – W

5. Arishem – 189

Is this a meme? Is this real? Adding 12-cards to your deck means you may never see a single card you intended to play, but with extra energy, will it matter? If you can just hugely outtempo the opponent, this can still be amazing.

It even has a bunch of synergies – Blob, Quinjet, Wave, Loki, Agent Coulson, Nick Fury, and other card generators… all of those are great. Even some otherwise bad cards can be potent here. How about a turn 4 Adam Warlock or Cystal? Jubilee thins the deck, too. This may not be great, but there’s no way it’s less than a blast to play.

  • Very excited for this card! It brings a new way to play the game (folks who wanted draft mode should love this!). This will make for some very fun games with the randomness of the draw.. also should see MASSIVE Darkhawks during this week. I really wish this was the season pass card, especially since there’s only one week of play with it prior to the Deadpool season. – Snap Decisions
  • Cool meme. – Dougpie
  • This card is hype! When an “archetype-card” is released, it’s really good for the game I think. Maybe he’ll be bad because of the RNG. Maybe he’ll be good because of the extra energy. But at the end, we’ll have at least a new deck! – Nitheal
  • Arishem is super hard to judge, on one hand he is Thanos with zero card draws so it’s super hard to get cards you want. On the other hand, Marvel Snap is a points game so even random cards and enough points and value can win you games. I’m leaning on the camp that he’ll be good, combined with Quinjet, Loki, Mockingbird, he will be a force to reckon with. – Myleee
  • He will be the funnest card of the month for sure. I’m not entirely sure how strong or consistent he will be, but when you do draw your Quinjet early on it will SLAP! Probably going to be my most-played card this month! – Gatos
  • Deck-defining, S-tier card that will spawn a deck with mid tier win rate (50-52%) but with an insane S tier cube rate (.45-.60). – Bradcifer
  • This card just seems like a fun, interesting, “big bad” type card that I’m excited to mess around with. Card generation is one of the most fun things in the game because the opponent can never guess what you’re doing, so I’m excited to play with this card. – Bootman
  • SD’s answer to draft mode. Best used for Blob! – SuperTechGod
  • It’s very difficult to talk about this card but I believe it will be very strong due to the fact that you start with 1 extra max mana, even with random cards in your deck there are a lot of cards that will have synergy and can take advantage of that, if you don’t have an RNG insanely bad will probably snap your enemy early and he will run away in fear of what you have. – Evazord

4. Sersi – 224

This card seems absolutely great. You’ll need to be careful with 1s turning to 2s, and 2s to 3s – those spots are where all the destroy is in the game, but making your cards more expensive generally makes them a good bit better. This counters the heck out of some junk like White Widow or Debrii while also being really great for Annihilus, as an extra way to turn the void into something productive. It’s got great power, too – what’s not to like?

  • Being severely slept on. Sure, she can lose games. Most cards can. Generally, she’s providing a bunch of extra value. Especially true if you build for it (like upgrading Void or Brood). Upgrading low-power cards with good On Reveals is GREAT. Good backup for Anni. – LaurenWhatevs
  • Sersi Is the best card of the month. She Is fun and powerful, and I already have a deck ready for her: token destroy. Why? Because she will transform the void into a 5-cost card which Is huge, but also transforming stuff like the Hood in a 2 drop Is massive. She Is like the perfect backup plan if you don’t draw Annihilus. Her only issue Is that you have to play her in the lane where you want to transform your cards (unlike Blink). – DaiCavallo
  • Broken, flip lanes you are totally losing. – Rutmus
  • Could add an interesting level of variance to balance out the clog nonsense currently plaguing the game. – GamingwithFlashX
  • Blink 2.0! Blink was arguably the strongest card of the last season and Sersi’s ability to hit all cards into cards that cost more is going to be very strong. Even if you end up getting a bad hit, switching a 4 to 5-cost cards will pretty much ensure you get something better. The only risky play would be going from 5 to 6. – Gregor2424
  • This is powerful in On Reveal shells. The real question is does this replace White Tiger or Namora in the Wong deck. I think ultimately it’ll be dropped due to it not working well with Odin. – KM Worst
  • I haven’t played Hearthstone in a long time but this feels like it was made by their design team. “Tarnax, the location” doesn’t seem like it would be good, but this can probably solo a lane with the right deckbuilding and setup and a good amount of rng. A lot of testing is porbably going to find out exactly how to build around her but my hot take of the season is she is going to be busted. – Gnome

3. Gilgamesh – 243

The Season Pass card is almost always overrated in these, as Second Dinner’s hit rate on their quality offers quite a lot of faith that it’ll be good. Well, a few days in, Gilgamesh has been Gilgameh and Gilgamid. Our panel voted before the card was released, but even a few days in, only three questions remain. 1. Is there some hidden deck that he’s great in? 2. If Professor X and Cannonball are nerfed does he get good? 3. How long until Second Dinner buffs him? Any other questions are already fairly obvious or sarcastic – Yes, Sage was just better and no, he’s not the worst Season Pass card ever.

  • Should very often be above baseline stats and strong because of that. My only concern is the lists it goes into and how clunky and poor the outcomes of them might be. – W
  • I don’t think this is game-breaking but I do think this will be the most impactful. – Butt
  • Works with ongoing?!! This changes everything (((o(*°▽°*)o))) – ItsJustRie
  • New Rulk with more flex. – JJRolk
  • Big power! – Owi
  • Definitely looks like the strongest card this season. Rise of Blue Marvel coming soon. – RockLeo
  • I think he is going to create a new meta surrounding small boosts for all instead of 1-2 big boosts. I like his potential. – TimmyTrogdor
  • This will really make Ongoing a lot stronger. – Ob3lisk.
  • This is a big card for 5 that requires a complex setup. Most likely, by turn 5, you will have on average 3 cards for buffing and Gilgamesh’s 10 power, maybe a little more. But we already have Spider-Woman, Devil Dinosaur, or Gamora, which provide as many stats with less work. Not to mention much stronger cards like Blink or Klaw. – Kirallas
  • Good finisher but requires build-up. Generally speaking, if he’s a consistent 5/12 (+5 cards) he’s awesome. Anything lower is meh and anything higher means he’s busted. – Minh

2. Thena – 264

Thena seems, early on, like this month’s stat-stick. As a 2-cost, she’s almost always a 2-7, very often a 2-10 or above. It turns out, building around her is easy, and any lane she’s in is absolutely being threatened. She’s weak to Shadow King or Red Guardian, as advertised, but for this kind of upside, you take that risk. A week in, and Phastos is going to need to be incredible to top this early nerf target.

  • Seems to be the most fun card in the season 🙂 Gonna be great with Kitty Pride as well as Professor X decks. – Sizer (who absolutely nailed it)
  • I think this will work well if drawn on 2. It’s ideal spot is in a Hope, Kitty, Angela deck (thinking about it Gilgamesh works here too), but I see this card as a “backup Angela” and another scaling threat for mid-range packages. This card can go from great (Angela level or better) to an absolute rock depending on when drawn. You can still get above rate if drawn later & Ravonna will make it a 1. – SilkyJohnson (SpaceWax)
  • Big 2 costs are really good and Thena isn’t very archetype specific like Morbius and Collector. Thena will at least be a 2/4 every game and often get to 2/7 or 2/10. – rsBerry
  • Just awesome. – KingofCanada
  • Good 2-cost, and with good deckbuilding she goes high. – Sety
  • Best card of the season hands down. If you play ANY type of Kitty Pryde deck, she’s an auto include. – ItsGuestGaming
  • Thena goes with Kitty and Ravonna, SOLD SOLD SOLD! Add Angela, Elsa, and Hope and you have the coolest girl gang around ♡\( ̄▽ ̄)/♡ – It’s Just Rie
  • I think she is the strongest card of this season. Very straightforward text, so expect her in decks with Hope. It’s Smoove of course, but the bigger danger seems to be Lockdown builds(it’s an extra card that buffs on the Professor’s location). – FAK Soul Intent

1. Phastos – 280

Phatos, played on turn 3, especially with Absorbing Man is just an extraordinarily interesting card. Giving +2 or -1 to a Surfer deck is basically saying you got either Sera or Surfer out early. If you add in that 1s can go to Zero or Hit Monkey/Sage style cards can get bigger or cheaper, that he scales with other cost-reduction like Sera or Beast and works amazingly with cards like Sebastian Shaw or Brood. This is in competition with Hope for the best 3 on 3 in Snap.

  • Bad. – Braude
  • He has a really powerful effect and your opponents will not know what to expect. Seems like he’ll have large cube equity! – TheKidSnap
  • Very strong card in a situation where you can draw him early game. – CrazyMSnap
  • This is my favorite card of the month I feel it will fit in a Surfer deck as well as a BDI deck. Already thinking this card and Gilgamesh in a Surfer/BDI deck. – TwoTiez
  • Big dude with a big hammer? Yes, please. I’m excited for the chaos this card can bring. It costing 3 could be a bit rough, but I’m very stoked. – FaThorNewman
  • Possibly the best card this season if it ships anything remotely close to this. I mean cost reduction or buff? Yes, please. NickdaGreekGeek
  • Now this is what I’m talking about, best card of the season watch. – Fazzer
  • It is a good card that synergizes well with Surfer. – SnapOrange
  • Never under estimate the power of cost reduction and power buffing I always say! T3 play and RNG aside, I can’t wait to see what people cook! (Especially with Gilgamesh!!!) – Phil Woodward
  • Cost reduction is always good especially when it can stack with other reduction effects. Phastos fits well into the established Surfer archetype and I’m sure we’ll see more homes for him than people think. – Paper
  • This card will be ubiquitous in decks until it is changed. Extremely broken and powerful. – Peaceful Sea
  • “Best thing to do on turn 3” was my initial thought but then I remembered this game only has 6 turns. It gets not just increasingly worse, but straight up bad after turn 3. “Being able to play it on 4 is fine” is likely a bad argument since we have actual game-winning cards to play after turn 3. Theres not enough time to extract value from a card like Phastos in this game. I think what myself and a lot of other ppl initially thought when they saw this card wasthat they thought it was a Hearthstone card in a Hearthstone deck. then this would be OP most of the time. – LambySeries
  • Broken if drawn on curve, Loki and Pixie-esque cube equity. High potential but I can see it being lackluster. – Tanjo
