It seems to have become a tradition for SD to release bundles with a configuration of 3,000 Collector’s Tokens for 3,500 Gold. And although we’ve recently seen a couple of similar bundles, let’s analyze how much value this one offers.
Guide
As with the recent Pryde Before the Fall and Void Claw Vengeance bundles, we can see increased value compared to the best Token Tuesdays and buying extra tokens in the Token Shop: 0.86 Tokens per Gold versus 0.8 and 0.75, respectively.
This gives the bundle 115% Progress Value, or 0.5 Series 5 cards for 3,500 Gold, which will take you 1-1.5 months to obtain, depending on whether you purchase the Season Pass, which is quite a good result.
Comparison With Other Bundles
It’s quite expected that the Progress Value of the analyzed bundle is identical to its previously mentioned counterparts. Therefore, it performs well among Gold bundles over the past six months, only falling behind a couple bundles, and among bundles in its price category over the past year.
No surprises in terms of Tokens for Gold value either – the absence of Credits in the bundle and the large number of Tokens give it 0.86 Tokens per Gold, placing it near the top of the list for this metric. So if you want Tokens at a good price, this is the bundle for you.
However, if we shift perspective and look at the bundle in terms of how many Series 5 cards it provides for every 700 Gold (for players with nearly complete collections), we’ll find that over the past year, there have been quite a few better offers that provided more overall card value than the Artist Spotlight: Brett Bean Bundle.
The Usefulness Of Variants In The Meta
The bundle contains two variants, which is rare and more of an exception for Gold bundles.
The variant for Devil Dinosaur is straightforward – Dino a Pool 1 card, so the variant is a cosmetic. But the variant for Beast is a bit more interesting since Beast is a Series 3 card, meaning newcomers can access this card earlier if they purchase the bundle with his variant.
However, although Beast is a strong card in the current meta thanks to the Move Bounce archetype, decks of this type require quite a few expensive cards if you want to win more often. Nevertheless, below, alongside one of the meta Move Bounce decks, there’s also a relatively budget Move build where the only card above Series 3 is Ghost-Spider.
Finding a suitable meta deck with Devil Dinosaur is a bit more challenging, but below I’ve also included a deck where Devil Dino has found a good spot, as well as a deck that includes both Beast and Devil Dinosaur.
Conclusion
Thus, Artist Spotlight: Brett Bean is a decent bundle with good value and the potential for someone to access a Series 3 card. I especially recommend it for those who value Collector’s Tokens and would like to purchase something in the Token Shop soon.
However, since it doesn’t offer an overwhelming advantage, I’d advise those who don’t have a substantial reserve of Gold (at least 8,000 – 10,000 Gold) to save it for something better in the future.
Final rating: 4 out of 5 stars. A solid bundle, but not a must-have.
