If you don’t know if Jack Flag is worth Snap Packs or tokens, make sure to check out our Bonus Challenge guide for a post-release review of the card and new decklists!
Answers and questions may be slightly rephrased for more clarity and ease of reading. This week’s topics will be divided into Card Specific Questions, Other Questions, and Questions From You!

Card Specific Questions
Q: I had a game where Werewolf By Night didn’t move when Ego was playing for me. Is this because his text says “after YOU play a card” so Ego doesn’t let WBN work correctly? Or is this a bug?
A: Glenn “There’s no check on whether a card is played by a human in the game. If you do see it again, feel free to report as a bug and we’ll check it out. I imagine it’s more likely Mercury was in play or something else within the gameplay affected this.”
Q: With Hulk now a 6/14, is it time we see other unplayed 6-Cost like Blob get respective buffs as well?
A: Glenn “I imagine over time we’ll certainly tweak some of these cards to create churn and new options at the top.”
Q: There is a Spider-Man bundle by Patrici Gleason on the Apple store, but nowhere else. Is this exclusive, or is there a bug in the shop?
A: Griffin “This Spider-Man bundle is indeed exclusive to the Apple App Store. The bundle and Variant will be available to all players later this year.”
Q: Why did you nerf Star-Lord’s Power, but not his energy gain?
A: Glenn “We like to try softer changes first, if we believe there’s a meaningful likelihood it will provide the kind of change we’re looking for.”
Other Questions
Q: The last update we received with new features in the game was about a year and three months ago… When do you plan to update players on upcoming features?
A: Griffin “We’re working on a blog with a look into what’s planned for 2026 right now. Looking forward to sharing it soon.”
Q: Deadpool’s Diner hasn’t been avaliable again after its rework. Will it be back anytime soon?
A: Griffin “DD will be coming back! Not next season, however it is on our schedule.”
Q: Is there a reason why Kraglin didn’t get a feature video, but other cards did?
A: Griffin “While we’re trying to produce as many as we can each season now, we can’t always make it work. This was the case for Kraglin this month. No reasoning for it beyond that.”
Q: You guys have historically done a great job balancing card costs so that the strongest cards are the most difficult to play. But what is the point of working so hard to balance the cost of cards when we can generate 19 or more energy on turn 6 and dump, say, Fing Fang Foom, Taskmaster, and Alioth at the same time? At that point isn’t cost balance just meaningless?
A: Glenn “No, costing balance is meaningful even at higher numbers. It’s particularly important with regard to the cards capable of generating the resources, which includes costing constraints beyond just their Energy costs.”
Q: Are there any plans to make character mastery better and feel less of a bad experience?
A: Griffin “Yes! In October we made some straight-numbers changes to Character Mastery as a quick improvement. In the patch notes we mentioned “The team has plans for further changes to Character Mastery down the road as well.”
Q: Will you ever make a way for players to get rid of splits they don’t want since they waste space and create visual clutter?
A: Griffin “We don’t have finalized details for what the future of Character Mastery will look like but I know the team is aware of this piece of feedback.”
Q: I think the team has mentioned that Banished cards are intended to be permanently gone, but do you plan on adding a card that interacts with the Banished pile? What about a card like Mobius that checks how many Banished cards you have?
A: Glenn “I don’t expect to interact directly with it any time soon, maybe never, but I do expect eventually we’ll have cards that check if you’ve banished anything or count the cards there, sure.”
Q: Now that Milano has been re-released, will you ever re-release other removed locations like Tokyo 2099?
A: Glenn “We never like to waste an art piece, but since there’s no rush (we have loads of locations) we’re mostly just waiting for a season that makes sense to pair a rerelease with.”
Q: Why are you adding Distressed borders in limited time modes, when they aren’t useful at all?
A: Glenn “We select which rewards to repeat based on past performance, so it would seem others find them useful.”
Q: Can you explain why the Wiccan and Spider-Ham bugs haven’t been emergency patched yet?
A: Griffin “While these bugs are unfortunate, we generally wait for patches to make fixes of this nature. Standing up a brand new patch is a heavy lift and that work has to be weighed against what else the team is working on at the time.
We generally reserve “emergency” patches for big issues that are preventing players for accessing or playing the game. Things that cause ‘Aw, Snap’ errors, game crashes, etc. They also are issues that can be fixed relatively quickly and don’t align time-wise with a regularly scheduled patch.”
Q: Looking at the news it seems like the sanctum pass will require 1700 xp to complete, which was exactly how much you needed last time if I am not mistaken. You mentioned that the event pass will be made easier to complete, but given you get 650 xp and the players needing 1050 xp, how is that easier when it is the exact same?
A: Griffin “Good catch. This was a text relic of the previous Sanctum overview. This version of Sanctum is the same as the last in that respect. We’ve removed the line.”
Q: Should not the OTAs always be two weeks after a new season instead of one (too little data) or three (too late from a community standpoint)?
A: Griffin “We generally do OTAs in the 2nd and 4th weeks of a season. That’s 9 days after a season begins.
If we did them, say, the third week of a season, that would leave the cadence off with seasons generally being 4 weeks. We’d have an OTA once a month instead of twice a month.”
A: Glenn “For more context, we specifically want to avoid doing OTAs the same weekend as the season reset and also want to keep them spaced 2 weeks apart. Both of these constraints are to give each “new metagame” time to breathe.”
Q: In the OTA intro, it mentions “Finally we’ll round it out with some quality of life improvements with cards that previously have had poor interactions with skills.” Nothing else in the OTA seems to mention this at all. Was something cut from the OTA or did you guys just forget to include some behind the scenes changes in the notes?
A: Griffin “Good catch! We actually had two more balance changes included in this OTA that had to be bumped at the last minute. That’ll be a little hint. Expect those to be coming in another update soon.”
Q: Why is the acquisition time for Sanctum Even Scrolls different from the mission start time? It would be easier if it matched the global timer.
A: Griffin “The timing around the Sanctum Scrolls refresh start once a player begins the event. As you said, it’s separate from the Missions timer. I’m unsure if this is a technical hurdle but I’ll pass along the feedback that you’d prefer them more aligned.
Q: Are you seriously considering adjustments to the Series downgrade system? You have stated that you aim for long-term service, however in its current state, its hard to believe the current system is good to maintain long-term health.
A: Griffin “Series Drops aren’t off the table. As we’ve said, with Snap Packs and other means, we have different ways to help accelerate players’ card acquisition. We don’t have any updates on Series Drops specifically, but the team knows that’s an option.
We absolutely, unequivocally plan to operate Marvel Snap for MANY years to come. We’re not going anywhere.”
Q: It’s been 3 months without any new direct to series 4 cards added at the start of the month? Is this the new norm? I miss the additional content at the start of each month.
A: Griffin “It’s the new norm in that it’s something we tried a few months ago, as you noted, in response to both player feedback and taking a look at different metrics.
No decision is ever permanent and if you (and others) would like to see more cards per season again, let us know! We’d love to hear your feedback on that.”
Questions From You!
Each week, I ask readers of the weekly dev update to leave their questions down in the comment section. That way we can ask those questions on your behalf, or let you know the answers if those questions have been asked before! I read each comment you leave, so I will be adding this section at the end of each week’s edition to highlight your questions that you asked last week!
Q: How can a free to play players keep up with new releases? Is it ever going to be addressed?
A: Griffin “Keeping up with new releases would inherently allow F2P players get all of the new cards that arrive and only needing to catch-up on older cards. To me, that means ‘collection complete’, especially as they move forward.
”Is this ever going to be addressed?’ – The system is working as it was intended to work but we’ll keep looking at the data and feedback as we move forward.”
Q: Can you please make it so Agatha’s effect doesn’t trigger when she’s a created card?
A: The team has stated before that they generally don’t make exceptions to card generation. Agatha won’t generate from Nick Fury since its too likely he gives Agatha, making the card too risky. As for the chance to generate versus a much larger pool of cards, this is just intended variance the game can create.
