The Hot Location for the next 24 hours is Daily Bugle: Get a copy of a card in your opponent’s hand. This is a Hot Location for Marvel Snap’s July 2023 season, Rise of the Phoenix, that starts on selected Wednesdays and Sundays at 3 AM GMT. For 24 hours, it has a 50% chance of showing up in games. Players who strategically build around the location or counter the decks that do so can have an advantage over their opponents! Let’s find out what the best strategies, cards, and decks are for the new meta and season!
Strategy and General Tips
Daily Bugle can be an interesting location. It can effectively give you information about what your opponent is planning to do, and it also gives you extra cards in hand to use. However, it is a symmetrical effect so your opponent gets this same advantage. Due to this, the main thing to try and do during this location is use the information from the cards to help your strategy. This is great because it means you don’t necessarily have to build for this location.
The best advice for this location, use the time with this location to work on your skills reading what your opponent is planning based on the information and how they are playing.

Decks which don’t want extra cards in hand can be slightly troubled by this location. However, these circumstances are rare. Two cards which work very well with the location – The Collector and Quinjet. We can get extra value from decks running these cards during the location. The Collector can be buffed by the effect and Quinjet can allow you get value from the card.

Devil Dinosaur can also benefit as you are more likely to have an extra card in hand at the end of the game. Ronan the Accuser is the final direction which you may want to try. The added card will often translate to +2 for your Ronan and we can build this deck to potentially counter greedy Bounce decks which may appear with The Collector and Quinjet synergies.

If you do see decks playing these strategies, two strong counters are Enchantress and Shadow King. Shadow King will reset The Collector. This can be really effective as your opponent has to play this card early. Enchantress is simple and is a direct counter to Devil Dinosaur and can also be used to turn off early Quinjet if you are expecting cards like Nick Fury later on.
Deck Features
The Collector Bounce deck is an excellent choice on ladder any day: The additional card may only be a slight advantage and may at times actually hinder you. However, the information about what they have in hand may offset this, allowing you to more confidently Snap on your strong hands.
Information about what your opponent is planning can make a big difference for the Bounce deck and gives your opponent usually very little to go off other than knowing you can go big. We are featuring Enchantress here as a slight hedge against Ongoing strategies for the location and a way to surprise your opponents.
The recently buffed Nick Fury features in this SHIELD deck. The deck features Darkhawk also as the package synergizes well with Zabu. We can cheaply fill our hand and have plenty of ways to play turns 4, 5 and 6. It’s also a straightforward curve making it a great ladder choice and can carry Shang-Chi. During the location, you should still prioritize Zabu on 2 as most your buffs on The Collector come from Agent Coulson and Nick Fury.
Don’t want to do what everyone else is doing? This Ronan and Devil Dinosaur deck looks to take advantage of our hand on either side. Wave and Kitty Pryde may look anti-synergistic here but the goal is to have a 1 drop we can play with Ronan or Devil Dinosaur when we don’t use Wave to lock out our opponent.
In practice, this flexibility has been more successful than it seems on the surface as you may even be able to ensure your opponent doesn’t think you have Wave until it is too late as your also playing Kitty Pryde. Other than this package the rest of the deck looks to fill yours and your opponents hands and play big cards on 5 and 6 to win.
Series 2 and Below (pre-CL 474)
For Series 2 players, we can still do some work with The Collector but our goal should be duplicating Devil Dinosaur for Turns 5 and 6. Outside of this we go back to Angela and Nightcrawler to help have more scaling threats.
