Table of Contents
Both Galactus First Steps and Cosmic ghost Rider are amongst the very popular cards following the OTA, even if their numbers don’t necessarily warrant it. Instead, it is their flexible nature, allowing them to be played in any flexible deck, which gives these cards most of their appeal.
As a result, both Cosmic ghost Rider and Galactus First Steps are posting average numbers following the OTA. Not enough to stop using them if their abilities are an asset to your deck, but also not enough to consider either a staple at this point.
With more time, we’ll see whether they can keep their slot in the best archetypes, which would be a sign of their power.
| Mission | # | Reward |

| Play 5-Cost Cards | 15 | 150 Credits |

Cosmic ghost Rider Performance

Right after a balance update, disruptive cards tend to struggle a bit, as it is unclear which decks they are supposed to target yet. Then, I fully expect Cosmic ghost Rider to improve a little in the future. Plus, the numbers aren’t so bad considering the card is being played in a ton of different decks due to its non-synergistic nature. If we were to look at only the best archetypes with Cosmic ghost Rider, both the win rate and cube average are much higher.
Until we get a clearer picture, we can note the popularity of the 5-cost early on, the highest of the cards released this season during their first week, baring only the season pass Galactus First Steps. However, Cosmic ghost Rider has been more popular than Galactus First Steps since the OTA.

Galactus First Steps Performance

The most popular card at all ranks, Galactus First Steps honestly doesn’t deserve the honor considering its numbers. Sure, the season pass can serve as the default 6-cost for most archetypes, but has yet to elevate one in particular.
Just like Cosmic ghost Rider, one could use the fact Galactus First Steps sees play in all sort of decks to explain the relatively average numbers. Yet, the card has been around for almost four weeks now, meaning the trial period has ended a while ago.
Then, the season pass card failing to be a staple in any deck, as Magneto, Red Hulk or Emperor Hulkling all function just as well, has to be a little worrisome for the 6-cost.

Bonus Challenge Decks
Both cards share the ability to join a multitude of decks, Cosmic ghost Rider as a disruptive tool, while Galactus First Steps will serve as a way to enhance one’s points potential. Very synergistic decks might not be so interested in either card, but most flexible builds should be able to welcome one to complete the missions.
Here are the best performing decks including either or both since the OTA, we don’t have much data yet, but one has to start somewhere.
Ironically, the best archetype before the OTA, now playing with a 3-cost Fenris Wolf and a 6-power Cannonball, still is a great option heading into the weekend. Wiccan Control still posts fine results, while both missions cards fit that deck pretty well.
Cosmic ghost Rider does its best work in control decks so far, alongside Enchantress and Shang-Chi. These two tend to be great after an update, as combined, they cover a large amount of synergies.
Galactus First Steps joins straight-forward decks able to grow its power to post its best results after the OTA. Whether you look at Doom end of Turn or Lockdown Ramp, both decks want to progress through their pre-established game plan. In each, the season pass represents a way to drop a lot of points to fight a location on the last turn of play.
