S.H.I.E.L.D. Vs. Hydra Event: Best Decks And Recommended Cards

The battle between S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra has reached Marvel Snap. Players can choose a side between the two warring factions and earn points to invest in locations, sort of like a large-scale version of a Marvel Snap game, played out over a large time scale. The event can be accessed in the News tab of Marvel Snap.

Players can gain points in the event by winning up to 300 cubes (total cubes, not net cubes) per day. They can also gain points by putting S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra characters in your deck and playing up to ten matches.

Thus, the optimal strategy for the event is to play a good deck that also includes one of the S.H.I.E.L.D. or Hydra characters.

There are a few ways to approach this challenge. In my opinion, the best way is to look for decks that already play the cards that are included in the event, rather than forcing them into other shells. Agent 13 fits into some of the older Bounce Bros decks, Captain America can be played in Sera pointslam decks, Scarlet Witch goes in a variety of shells, and Arnim Zola is played in Mr. Negative combo decks with Jane Foster.

Scarlet Witch is the clear standout, going in a large number of different decks. She’s the easiest card to slot into various decks and not see a serious drop in power. That said, there are plenty of other decks that are easily playable with the cards from the event.

This list plays both Scarlet Witch and Captain America. It looks to take advantage of Sera’s mechanics to deploy large amounts of power onto the board, while not relying on Magik. In matchups against decks with Magik, it is comfortable going until turn seven, but it is not reliant on doing so. It’s easy to make this deck work, with not a ton of though required, which makes it a great choice for this event, where volume of cubes and games played are the things that matter the most.

This is the default Bounce Bros list. I iterated on it a bit in a recent article, and came to the conclusion that Agent 13 was not optimal in the list. That said, the original Bounce Bros deck still packs quite a punch, and can still easily rack up those cubes for you, even if she’s not the perfect card to include. She still synergizes with Falcon and The Collector, and she’s a solid option in the deck even if I don’t think she’s perfect.

This is the easiest way to just rack up cubes both in the event and on ladder. Scarlet Witch is perhaps not the single best card to run in this deck, with some negative (pun intended) synergy with Mister Negative, but she solves a lot of problems that can annoy this deck, such as Attilan and Dream Dimension. These locations, notably, cannot be answered with Magik, giving Scarlet Witch some genuine utility.

For those looking to play Black Widow, the article I wrote about attacking the metagame with Green Goblin included this list, which plays Black Widow as an additional disruptive measure. It’s one of my absolute favorite decks in the game, and I truly enjoy what it brings to the table.

Those four are the best decks I’ve come up with to win cubes in the event, but I have one more special brew for y’all today, something I’ve been trying to make work with relatively little success.

I love Devil Dinosaur. I just do. The concept of playing Angela, the strongest 2-Cost card, Bishop, the strongest 3-Cost card, and Devil Dinosaur, the strongest 4-Cost card, really appeals to me. Nick Fury can boost the power of Devil Dinosaur late, while also giving you flexibility in terms of lategame power. This one is a deck I truly enjoy, but I simply don’t think it’s reached a level of refinement where I’m comfortable recommending it over the other lists in this article.
