Scream5PANDART STUDIO
Man-Thing4Todd Nauck
Mobius M. Mobius4Jon Lam

It’s a new season, but round 2 of a Spider-Verse theme! Kicking it off is the new card Scream! This is an intriguing card, as the ability is a higher scaling Kraven, but requires some lessee used cards. There used to be an old deck that focused purely on moving your opponent’s cards around to mess up plans. This uses cards like Stegron, Polaris, Juggernaut, Aero, and Spider-Man with Kraven to generate passive Power. Ideally, you clog one location with their early game cards, and get to focus your high Powered cards where you need them most. Scream could fit well in this style of deck, or simply return Professor X to the meta by punishing move cards. She also provides a great counter to Human Torch combo decks alongside Kingpin.

Joining her are returning cards Mobius and Man-Thing! Mobius is a solid card that counters several deck styles, but he doesn’t see much play in the meta anymore. This simply is due to a lack of deck space and the need to carry more widely usable tech cards. In a meta that uses lots of cost reduction though, he can still be great. Man-Thing got a buff since his last appearance, and he does see some marginal play in a couple of decks, but isn’t a mandatory card. With 2 Series 4 cards in a week, this looks like a very low value.

Misery5PANDART STUDIO
Namora5Arthur Suydam
War Machine5Salvador Larroca

On the opposite side, this week looks like a great value! Misery joins the roster this week, and could be the next destroy staple. The clearest usage of this card to me is retriggering destroy cards to make the deck more consistent, while also giving Knull some extra Power. It essentially gives you an extra Carnage, Venom, Deathlok, or Killmonger if your draw is rough and you need a turn 4 or 5 destroy card.

Namora and War Machine make their 2nd appearances this week as well! Both of these cards were underutilized at their launch, but have made relevant comebacks since then. Namora has found some fun homes in combo centered decks and elevates On Reveal specific decks. And War Machine obviously speaks for himself. Definitely a high value week!

Scorn5PANDART STUDIO
Jean Grey5Peach Momoko
Sebastian Shaw5Ryan Benjamin

This mid-season cache brings an interesting new tool to Discard with Scorn! I’m not entirely sold on this card yet, as it looks like an interesting ability without a home that needs it. The stats this card can offer is definitely noteworthy, essentially giving out +4 each discard like Apocalypse in a different style. I can’t see this in decks with Apocalypse, but it might work out in a newer style archetype that leans on Daken, Sword Master, and Coleen Wing for consistent triggers. I’m not entirely sold on this cards viability in the decks it would belong to, but it’s definitely a card to keep your eye on.

Speaking of keeping you’re eyes on a card, Sebastian Shaw returns this week and has seen quite a resurgence lately. Between buff decks and Silver Surfer, this powerhouse has proven to be worth owning. Jean Grey, on the other hand, has yet to find meaningful play outside of more fringe, off-meta lists.

Toxin5PANDART STUDIO
Zabu4Sean Galloway
Elsa Bloodstone5David Nakayama

If you’re a bounce fan, rejoice as a new bouncing tool has arrived in the form of Toxin! This card likely will be the star of the month, giving bounce decks the option of a second mini-beast. While he doesn’t offer a discount, he gets a solid amount of Power for bouncing and acts as an a backup when you don’t draw Beast or Falcon.

Zabu returns this week, which means his much needed rework / buff should be finally upon us! Once we know the change, we can properly value his worth. Elsa Bloodstone, on the other hand, is a great tool for a number of decks and is definitely a good card.

Anti-Venom5PANDART STUDIO
Ghost-Spider4Amanda Conner
Supergiant5Seth Adams

Closing out the season bring us to Anti-Venom! This simply looks like an alternate Iron Lad with the same stats. If you get a free card to play with 0-Power it’s like choosing to activate your Iron Lad instead of it being automatic. Depending on the deck you are running, this could be a big positive or a big negative. For example, Iron Lad is preferred in a deck running Black Panther, but Anti-Venom would be better if you are a Tribunal deck searching for ideal combos in a certain order.

Finally, we get our last 2 returning cards this month, Ghost-Spider and Supergiant! Ghost-Spider obviously sees a ton of play and will continue to do so with move being relevant. Supergiant is rarely ever used, but this 2nd release might let a wider audience take a shot at making a great deck for her.
