July Updates: Ajax Buffed to [5/7], Download All Button Removed Next Patch

There has been some minor news announced on the official Marvel Snap Discord over the past few days and we would like to share them with you in case you’ve missed them.

Ajax Buffed from [5/5] to [5/7]

Ajax, the next card to be released on July 16, 2024, was originally announced as a [5/5] card, but has now been buffed to [5/7]. After the lacklustre release of Bob from Hydra, this is a welcome change.

The team has made a late balance change on the upcoming Ajax card. It’s changing from 5/5 -> 5/7!

You can expect the game, website, and blog to reflect this update shortly.

The next OTA should be due on Thursday July 18, 2024 and it will be interesting to see what other cards are affected.

Download All Button Removed

The recent change to downloading the game’s assets to fix issues has caused more problems than it solved and the system is being removed for now starting with the next major Marvel Snap Patch Update. This is either due on July 23, 2024 or July 30, 2024, coinciding with the Deadpool’s Diner event or the release of Alliances.

Hey folks,

In an upcoming client release you’re going to see the “Download All” button removed from the Settings menu for Mobile devices. While we’ve recommended it in the past to try to resolve asset-related hiccups, what we found over time is that it’s potentially causing more problems than it’s resolving.

The technical summary from our engineering team:
“The Download All Button just re-triggers a background process that’s already happening, and can contribute to thread contention and extra coroutine volume.”

Effectively, when clicking the Download All button we’re interrupting a process normally already in progress and restarting it. The fight for resources often then results in worse performance or lingering, persistent issues.

In the future, you may see this reintroduced as asset download and handling is something we’re actively working on behind the scenes. But for now, it’s not doing the thing we expected it to be doing and is honestly just making your experience worse!
