Archetype pages are updated after each Tier List is made. If a page isn’t up-to-date, it means there was nothing worth mentioning in the last report, either because there was no data about the archetype or it did poorly.
Ranked Performance
I didn’t expect Destroy, which had a very disappointing season up until this point, to make it into Tier 2 for this last report of the Marvel Rivals season. However, it does make sense if you think about it.
First, flexible decks are on the rise, so Killmonger has many more targets against the likes of Move, Bounce, and other decks running U.S. Agent. Then, with Toxic being a superstar and Clog making a comeback, destroying your own card looks pretty good. I think these two reasons explain the 59% Win Rate for Destroy, which was by far its best performance of the season.
Conquest Performance
A step behind the other rigid synergies (Discard and Mister Negative), Destroy still found a way to be quite popular in Conquest. This is likely due to not requiring any new cards and X-23 being featured in Spotlight Caches last month.
With a 57% Win Rate, Destroy showed that it can still post a decent performance, although it has been a while since the deck did anything worth being considered a top contender again.
How to Play
The archetype is based around the namesake synergy, Destroy, which can develop a ton of points when it gets going. Currently, the key piece for Destroy is Deadpool because it can be abused on repeat in order to grow itself, Venom, and Knull, as well as reduce Death‘s cost.
Destroy has more inherent risk to it because of the need to Snap relatively early in a match, as the only opponent staying in a game where you started growing Deadpool is one with a counter. If you want to be able to raise the stakes and keep an opponent guessing what will happen next, Destroy needs to Snap in the first few turns, which naturally makes it a little riskier to play than other archetypes.
Otherwise, Destroy really came together at the end of 2023, and it has been a top tier archetype ever since. It sets the standard for what a proactive archetype should be able to do. It still has to deal with a few annoying counter cards like Shang-Chi and Shadow King, but it has enough gas in the tank to remain a great archetype (even with those cards around).
Archetype Evolution Over Time
- Destroy finally came back thanks to a better environment. Killmonger and Lady Deathstrike are great disruptive cards right now.
- Destroy is struggling with way too much of Shadow King around, so Thanos Destroy is the default deck around the synergy at the moment (with mixed results).
- Deadpool Destroy remains very difficult to use in the meta, but Thanos Destroy has had a good couple of days since the OTA.
- There is simply too much of Cosmo and Shadow King for Destroy to thrive at the moment.
- Nothing new under the sun for Destroy. It’s good when it draws the right cards, and it gives away a cube otherwise.
- Destroy is starting to test some counter cards to adapt to the meta like Lady Deathstrike, and it seems to be helping. Otherwise, there are a lot of 1-Costs around, which makes it fairly simple to discount Death. Cosmo is the biggest threat to keep in mind.
- Honestly, the fact that Destroy made it on the report at all is good enough. This meta is tough for Deadpool.
- Destroy remains a solid synergy, largely thanks to Junk being such a popular archetype. Heading into the new season, this should be a solid deck to climb to Infinite.
- Destroy experimented with Araña this week, but it didn’t affect the archetype’s performance too much. Even with the new 1-Cost in the mix, Destroy is a Tier 2 deck that is great for climbing to Infinite, but it’s a little more difficult to leverage afterward once opponents start Retreating more often against an early Deadpool.
- As the focus of the previous OTA, Destroy naturally didn’t receive anything this time around and lost a significant chunk of popularity. The performance is stable around 54 to 56% win rate and 0.2 to 0.3 cubes per game, enough to make Destroy a fine pick for anyone enjoying the synergy or lacking certain cards to play other synergies.
- Destroy benefited a lot from Attuma‘s rework in the recent OTA, and the card is now a staple in the archetype. Performance wise, Destroy is good when there are a lot of 1-Cost cards around, which is currently the case with KaZoo and the newly released Silver Sable.
