In the recent October 31, 2023 patch, Mobius M. Mobius underwent a change that practically made the card from a meta staple to unplayed overnight:

Today, Second Dinner announced that the card will be rebalanced with the OTA Balance Update on November 9: It will revert its ability back to its original Ongoing functionality, but its Energy cost will be adjusted from 2 to 3 to a [3/3] card. Read on below to find out the full details!
What Happened with Mobius M. Mobius?
- [Old] 2/3 – Ongoing: Your Costs can’t be increased. Your opponent’s Costs can’t be reduced.
- [New] 2/3 – On Reveal: Until the end of next turn, your Costs can’t be increased and your opponent’s Costs can’t be reduced.
Developer Note: Mobius M. Mobius has had a massive impact on the metagame, forcing a changing of the guard among top decks that saw perennial powerhouses like Zabu, Sera, and Death fall from grace in favor of decks that could push Power by just playing cards for their normal Energy Costs. While we were eager to see the world Mobius would create, we expected to make an adjustment down the road in order to welcome Cost reduction strategies back into the sunlight. Today is that day, as we’re shifting Mobius to provide a temporary counter that requires good timing to maximize the effect. This makes him trickier to set aside Energy for, kind of like Shadow King, and also opens up counters like Magik for decks that are hyper-vulnerable to Mobius being played on turn 5. We’re also interested to hear your feedback on our approach here, using a new card as a tool to create a new play environment temporarily.

What Was the Impact of the Change?
This particularly caused a controversy because earlier on, firstly because Marvel Snap does not offer any form of compensation for rebalanced cards, and even a Bundle (Form And Function) associated with the card was sold for 7,500 Gold earlier on in the month.
Furthermore, cards like Loki (while still powerful) and Elsa Bloodstone are other recent examples that have been released as paid Season Pass cards that were nerfed not long after. It was even admitted by the developers that cards can initially be released in a powerful form.
Announcement of Upcoming Change
As the discussion went on, today Second Dinner released a statement about Mobius M. Mobius, that it is to be rebalanced in this week’s OTA Balance Update on November 9. It will revert its ability back to its original, but its Energy cost will be adjusted from 2 to 3 to [3/3].
We’ve heard a lot of feedback around the change we made to Mobius M. Mobius following the patch update on 10/31. In the interest of being transparent and addressing your concerns, we’re letting you all know that Mobius M. Mobius will revert to his previous Ongoing functionality as a 3/3 in the upcoming OTA scheduled for 11/9.

Wrap Up
While this is a welcome announcement and is an unprecedented case, players should be able to have faith in the cards they carefully choose to purchase and save up for as currency is hard to come by especially for free to play players.
