Project Pegasus Hot Location

Project Pegasus Hot Location Guide: Strategy, Best Cards and Decks

This week's Marvel Snap Hot Location is Project Pegasus: +5 Energy this turn. This location will show up 50% more frequently in games for the next 24 hours. Here are some decks to get you started for all players!

The Hot Location for the next 24 hours is Project Pegasus: +5 Energy this turn. Hot Locations happen every week, starting on Sunday at 3 AM GMT. The chosen location has a 50% chance of appearing during games. Players who strategically build around the location or counter the decks that do so can have an advantage over their opponents! So what will you play?

Strategy and General Tips

This location is a game warper, and not because it can hurt you significantly. +5 energy can enable Turn 1 Galactus, Professor X, or The Infinaut, for example, and this changes the equation of the game you’re playing. If you are playing a deck without any way to take advantage of the location when it flips, you could find yourself left behind often.

If we start looking at what decks can take advantage of our early +5 energy surplus, we’ll find several interesting directions. Lockjaw is one of those directions, and the expectation is that this location pushes the power level of both the Thor Lockjaw and the Thanos Lockjaw packages significantly.

It we want to go the other way, we can look toward Sandman and Electro decks. They have a game plan for when the location doesn’t show up and plenty of cards to play when it does. Additionally, Sandman on Turn 1 might be enough against many decks.

Another alternative is assuming others are going to build into the location and then packing cards to disrupt their plays. Shang-Chi can do well with this location as cards with greater than nine power are likely to be on the board for Shang-Chi to destroy as early as Turn 4.

Lockation packages with Professor X and Hobgoblin can also be more effective because you can play these cards much earlier, and they present some counterplay against decks with Galactus.

It might be time to prove Lockjaw is the true meta powerhouse by trying the non-Thanos version of the deck during the location. It may not seem better normally, but it has one potential advantage during the hot location over Thanos: we are more likely to have big cards in hand between Turns 1 and 3. The better option, however, remains the Thanos deck as we have better game across all locations.

The plan is simple. Lockjaw on Turn 3 then cycle, cycle, and more cycle. If Project Pegasus flips, we play the best value cards we can. Otherwise the deck already cheats plenty of energy, and this hot location will only make it capable of cheating another five. There are games with this location where you could actually empty the Thanos deck.

If you are sick of Thanos, the other Lockjaw deck is still strong and the location more than helps. We will hopefully play an extra big card, and that should be enough in the current meta to recommend trying this version as well.

Project Pegasus allows us to build a recruit style deck in Series 2. We have Sunspot and Sentinel to fill the early game, and White Queen to maintain our hand for Devil Dinosaur if the location doesn’t flip.

If it does flip, we have the potential The Infinaut high roll, or a simple Gamora play or retriggering Jubilee with Odin.

Storm and Jessica Jones remain in the deck as they are ways to win lanes early, and a Turn 1 Storm can be just as good as a Turn 1 Professor X.

After Credits

This week’s After Credits deck is unproven but will hopefully spark some creative thinking. The idea here is to carry two big 5-drops that we would like to play between Turns 1 and 3 (i.e. Hobgoblin and Professor X).

If we can land them early, we can effectively win a lane before the second half of the game. We then carry a package based around winning one other lane. Juggernaut is the X Factor and works as way to seal the second lane on Turn 6 or disrupt some Lockjaw plays.
