Play a bunch of 6-cost cards!

This deck is fun to play, fairly easy to know when to Snap, and competitive (tested in the mid-80s ranks).

I’ve tried lots of different ways to get the 6-costs out early, and lots of different combos of 6-cost cards. This set has given me the best luck so far.

Well, maybe excluding M’Baku. I just think he’s fun, especially on the rare occasion he flips a location. Iceman, Korg, Yondu, Forge, Okoye, Psylocke, or Scorpion could be good alternatives.

No single card is required, but these are the most important:

  1. Lockjaw
  2. Jubilee
  3. Infinaut
  4. Zabu

You need ways to play more than one of your big cards! Lockjaw, Wave, and Jubilee are my faves. Absorbing Man gets used on Jubilee more often than not. Dracula, of course, is like playing one of the other cards from your hand. Alternatives include Electro, Psylocke, Sif + Ghost Rider, Sera played before turn 5, and Magik.

You need big cards! Alternatives include Hulk, She-Hulk, Death, Destroyer, and Red Skull — in order of most preferred to least preferred.

You need a tech card or two! Shang-Chi is my favorite, as I’ve found that other decks with high-power cards to be the toughest matchup. My leading alternative would be Armor to block opposing Shang-Chi. I also ran Doctor Strange for a while to pull one strong card off of Lockjaw’s location (you rarely need Infinaut and Giganto in the same location). He was excellent sometimes, but the right situations actually didn’t come up that often.

Tips

  • Save your 1-cost card to use with Lockjaw. You’ll often get the chance to use it on Lockjaw two or three times. Extra true for M’Baku, because you want him in your deck!
  • Wave works on turn 3 or 4 to get an early 6-cost. However, if you’ve got Zabu out, Wave might be best played on turn 5. That’ll let you play both a 6-cost card and a 4-cost card in the final turn (plus stop your opponent from playing more than one card).
  • Don’t forget Absorbing Man can copy Doctor Doom’s ability.
  • Doctor Doom can be great to play on Lockjaw. Spawn two Doombots AND whip out Infinaut? Yes, please!
  • Ideally, turn 3 is Lockjaw and turn 4 is Zabu (in a second location) and M’Baku (in Lockjaw’s location).
  • A strong hand has ways to play cards from your deck (like Lockjaw + M’Baku or Zabu + Jubilee + Dracula/Absorbing Man) and few strong cards (you want them in your deck!).
  • A weak hand is the opposite. If you’ve got three or four of your 6-costs, it might be worth retreating. However, even this is recoverable. Wave should let you play one before turn 6.
  • If you add Magik, I’d be quick to add in She-Hulk. Skip turn 6 and then play both She-Hulk and Infinaut on turn 7.
